Can't run on Windows 10 because of DirectPlay

When I try to run the game a message appears saying I need to install DirectPlay, if I click Install the process says the installation failed so I can't play. If I click on Dont Install I can't play neither. Any solution? This started when I updated to W10.

This is still not working for me... I get to the directplay step, click the box and press next. Then it opens a new window that says "searching for required files". It wont stop searching and i have to open task manager to actually exit the window. I don't have an antivirus on right now.

STEP 1. THE ERROR OF COMPATIBLE MODE.

Sample: Age of Empire 3

I located the executive files and change the properties. age3y.exe

It is located on Steam library in Program Files

Right click on the file and choose properties, click Compatibility tab, make sure choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3) Compatibility mode and choose Run this program as an administrator.

STEP 2. INSTALL DIRECTPLAY IN WINDOWS 10

Right click Start, choose Programs and Features, Click Turn Windows features on or off.

Make sure there is a checkmark in Legacy Components, click the + to expand, check the box for DirectPlay.

It may ask for rebooting.

Disabling Avast allows the DirectPlay to Install. Just tested it and solved my problem.

(sorry, question for Russian-speaking users)

При первом запуске требует Directplay, но после установки требуется перезагрузка, после которой ничего не происходит. Точнее игра требует заново установить Directplay.
Вариант с запуском через "Компоненты Windows" не проходит т.к. нечего запускать.
Может кто сталкивался с подобным?

If that does not work, try turning off your antivirus (and I hear Skype too). I had avast, and after I disabled it it worked for me.
