Been having issues with this for days. I have done extensive Googling, and while I've found some support resources relevant to my issue, none of them have produced appreciable results.

From what I've read, signs point to issues with MSVC or DirectX, permissions, or Windows 7 overall (har har). I've done numerous uninstallations/reinstallations of both the game and MSVC, manual or otherwise, removed created registry keys, patched my copy, etc. All to no avail. I have exhausted the fixes I've found online with no changes in the displayed error (see title).

This is my copy, not a Steam copy, but I am very reluctant to post this to the Microsoft helpdesk as I've already followed the steps they'll undoubtedly advise, and in general their support leaves much to be desired.

Any of the .exe selected produce the same popup with the same dialogue. No splash, no crash - it simply doesn't start at all. I've included a DxDiag below for reference.

Is there something I'm missing? Is my machine even capable of running this? What is "0xc000007b"? Any advice/insight will be much appreciated.
