Home city file location
I've been looking for the files for my Home Cities, but haven't found them anywhere. I've checked all of the files in
Program Files (x86)/Steam/Steamapps/Common/Age Of Empires III
And there are no Age of Empires files in my documents, so I'm dumbfounded.

All of your offline Home Cities are in My Documents/My Games/Age of Empires 3/savegame.

I looked there, but there was no Age of Empires 3 folder

Are you looking for offline LAN or Skirmish cities or single-player Campaign cities?

Your online Home Cities are stored on the ESO servers, you can't access these files yourself.

All I can suggest is doing a full system search (Start button, then 'search') for "HomeCity". If there are any on your computer that will find them.

I've already tried that and found nothing at all

Found it. It was a hidden file in another user's files...
EDIT: Only the campaign and scenario home cities were there. Skirmish home cities have yet to be found.

I realize that this thread is old, but I just found it while trying to find a way to sync Home Cities across 6 computers for my kids.

I think the folder, at least on Win7, that has the necessary files is:
C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Savegame

And, maybe:
C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Users3

I would be interested to know if anyone else has run into any issues syncing Home Cities across multiple computers. Currently the only issue that I am trying to sort out is duplicate names.

maybe no one will come here but Illusion {DH} is right : you'll find your saves in
C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Savegame

You'll need to open with notepad and you 'll have something like this :

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?>

<savedhomecity version ="2">
<defaultdirectoryid>0</defaultdirectoryid>
<defaultfilename>homecityspanish.xml</defaultfilename>
<civ>Spanish</civ>
<hctype>HC</hctype>
<name>Séville</name>
<heroname>Alonso de Vera</heroname>
<herodogname></herodogname>
<shipname></shipname>
<hcid></hcid>
<respec>1</respec>
<level>103</level> <----------------------------------------------------------------------------
<xp>4472953</xp>
<skillpoints>0</skillpoints>
<xppercentage>0.357942</xppercentage>
<numpropunlocksearned>55</numpropunlocksearned>
<decks>
<deck>
<name>équilibré</name>
<gameid>4</gameid>
<cards>
[...]

Just change your level on the marked line.

Sry for bad english
have a nice day ;)

EDIT : YOU ll ALSO HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR NUMBER OF SKILL POINTS OR XP (it will have the same effect) just under the marked line.

Just put level 150 and 150 skillpoints and you'll be safe

Just a followup:
I did get Resilio Sync setup to sync "C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Savegame" across multiple computers and it seems to work fine.

I first made a sync folder that I shared with Resilio and then put all the "Savegame" files in it. Then I changed the name of any files that were already on the computer. I added a "2" after most of the duplicate names. When you open the game, you will see a "CityName" and CityName2" in your list of cities. Fortunately, AoE uses the file names as the "CityName", so there is no need to edit the contents of the file.
