How to add custom maps into the game

Pretty much what the title says. How do you download maps online and put them into your game when you've downloaded the game through steam.

You put scenarios here: %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Scenario
and maps here: %userprofile%\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\RM3

When you join a room on ESO and don't have the selected map/scenario, it will be downloaded automatically from host.

I do not seem to have this folder. I know that maps are automatically downloaded in game. I never had any problems when I used to play AOE3 on disc but steam is causing so many issues.

The Steam version has literally no differences from the disc version. It's the exact same game. Which folder in particular are you missing? I assume you have the standard documents folder shipped with Windows. Try going through the folder path step by step.

if you want add maps ThisPC - documents - my games - age of empires 3 - RM3 (asian dynasties) . If you want to add a scenario then go to ThisPC- documents- my games - age of empires 3 - scenario

Didn't work in the end anyway, I found the folder and put the maps into the correct place but it did nothing.

same problem. in my RM folders are just dmp.txt files and no .xs or .xml like the download maps are. After a bit of research I found the folder on my harddrive with rm3 and .xs and .xml files in it so I copyed the christmas map in there and started aoe3 asia din. but I cannot found a new map somewhere!! Please help me!

The correct folder is the one with no .xs and .xml files, it just means you don't have any custom maps downloaded yet.

I downloaded custom map packs (contain .xs and .xml files) adn copied to the C:/users(*myusermane*/documents/my games/age of empires 3/RM3 but when start the game i cant find those maps in the list...

That should be the correct folder. Make sure you are launching The Asian Dynasties expansion and you tick the "Custom Maps" checkbox when hosting a game.

ohh, so the custom maps work only when I host a scenario? I cant play on them in skirmish mode? :O
