Initialization failed

When I try loading the game, I"m getting an "Initialization failed" error just after the splash screen comes up. The game used to work, but it's not now.

I had the same issue just now too... I found this in an old thread...

Here's how I fixed it...
-Click Control Panel
- Programs
- "Turn Windows features on or off"
- Open folder called Legacy
- Select DirectPlay

Play game.

I just downloaded the game today and encountered the same problem.
I checked the DirectPlay but still failed the initialization.
But after verifying the game cache, the game launched successfully. Thanks for the info.

For Chinese, 控制面板-程序-启用或关闭windows功能-旧版组件-DirectPlay.
It works for my win10
