Age of Empires 3 problem (no civilizations to select)

Hello,

I've always had this problem with steam version of age of empires. When I play the game everything starts normally but if I go into skirmish I can't select a civilization? Everything is just bugged out. Please help.

Have you tried to create a Home City first?

You can't create a home city when there's no nations to select?

Not sure of what you mean.

Single Player > Skirmish > Manage Home Cities > Create new Home City

Is this not available to you?

I don't know how too. It won't let me screenshot in game. I can make a homecity, it just won't let me use any of the expansion factions.

No. You don't understand. I have the base civ's, yes. But I can't use ANY of the expansion civ's. Like India, China, Japan, or the Native American tribes.

I have a similar problem, I can create home cities, but I cannot select them to play in skirmish. (When recreating, it says that the civ is already exists.)

Madness, I could solve it. First make sure that "controlled file access" is closed or allowed for steam and age of empires version you play. "controlled file access" is under windows security > virus and threat protection.

Second, (if it makes no change) try this : "Go to My Documents>My Games>Age of Empires 3>Savegame and delete the sp_[yourHCname(e.g. London, Seville, etc.)]_homecity.xml file."

I had this same issue with a windows 10 install. Just right click on age of empires 3> Properties> Local> Check integrity of files.

A tiny download started after doing this, but it fixed the bug I had.
