Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition

I wanted to post this on the game's own forum but it says I need to own the game before I can post on it so decided to ask on this one instead.

I haven't played AoE3 in almost 20 years (the disc version), and was thinking of picking up the definitive edition. I was wondering how much of an improvement that version is over the original? Has the AI been improved/etc?

Yes, everything's been improved, there are literally hundreds of thousands of changes. There is even a free trial so you can pick it up for free and see for yourself whether it's worth buying.

It's bad in almost every possible way, from blurry badly optimised graphics to lack of any semblance of balance, and the sheer number of civs, like in AoE 2, makes them almost identical. It's not worth it.
