Editing protoy
Hai! So i thought my self i wanted to edit the game like i did some years agoe with my non steam versioned age of empire 3. So i went to make copy whole age of empire folder and started editing the copied one. I edited all proto.Xml Files so all are same and edited some techtree.Xml files to nothing. I oppeded age of empire but there was no changes... so i took my bakup files and replaced them with the edited and tryed again nothing happened. Can someone tell me why when i edit ex crateoffood from 100>1000 why it won't work ingame? It's like i diden't even edit anything. I bet it has to do something with thaz its steam version.

If you're editing files in the copied directory it won't do anything, because by default the game always uses the installation directory to load up files. Instead make a backup copy of the folder like you did, but make your changes in the original folder.

Alternatively, one of the exe patches from https://github.com/danielpereira/AoE3UnHardcoded allows you to create a modified game exe, which will load files from current directory instead of the installation directory.

Probably you are editing wrong files. Each expansion has its own proto and techtree.
The Asian Dynasties - protoy.xml, techtreey.xml
The War Chiefs - protox.xml, techtreex.xml
Vanilla - proto.xml, techtree.xml

What change these patches? Are they usuable in multiplayer online too? Is it possible to "cheat" in multiplayer and e.g. faster collect ressources?
If you make any change to files like protoy.xml, you will only be able to join game rooms with players that have the exact same changes applied.
