MacOS glitch: the game won't start

The game no longer starts on my MacBook Pro (macOS 14.4.1). Every time I start the game it shows the title card, then the menu music starts playing, but instead of the menu all I see is the title card flickering very fast. I waited for a few minutes to see if it would eventually load, but nothing else happened.

I tried a couple of other Steam games, none of them have this issue.

I am having the same issue with Wingspan this morning (May 25, 2024) on my MacBook Pro (macOS Sonoma 14.5). I played Wingspan yesterday (May 24, 2024) with no issues. Nothing has changed on my computer since yesterday. I shut my computer down and restarted it, but that did not help.

Both of my friends that use MacOS are struggling to get the game to run with stability right now, they had to close all other programs and run discord through their phones.

Same thing here, since the latest hotfix the game is basically unplayable on macOS: it hangs constantly, in particular when switching to another application than Wingspan, when trying to move it to another screen, and so on.

Same same, was hoping to play a little while relaxing this weekend, I guess not!

3 days later, Wingspan is still flickering on the opening screen and failing to load, and there's been nothing but crickets from [e-mail] and Steam. Seems that neither developer nor host GAF about this game malfunction.

I have been having these issues also since the last hotfix. The game opens, but flickers black and to the home screen. But doesn't progress to the launch page. The game worked perfectly fine before the hotfix

This just happened to me on MacOS, too. When I force quit and restart the game, a red screen flashes and then the game launches, but at a very low resolution.

Something new today, May 29. Wingspan loaded, although the display was oddly zoomed in and a bit out of focus. Halfway though the third round the display changed to a green screen and the game board was no longer visible, although the sound track continued to play uninterrupted. I did a force quit, and when I tried to restart the game it was back to the flickering failure to load paradigm.

Tuesday June 4 - I've managed to play complete Wingspan games against bots for the past few days (screen display is still not optimal) but today I got to the fourth round and the game froze. Did a Force Quit and went away for a while. I just started Wingspan back up and knew I was in trouble when the display filled the entire screen instead of being in a widescreen band. Sure enough, the flickering started. Force quit again. <sigh>
