Steam is nice for playing against AI. (which you can't do on BGA)
The drawback is, there are no expansions on BGA, and after hundreds of games with the expansions, I had forgotten how brutal the game is without them.
Have a starting hand with no useful bird that doesn't eat two of the same food? Oh well. No water bird at all? Oh well, too bad, just draw a single bird until you get one. No forest bird? Draw a single food token until you have the food you need. It's miserable.
(My personal thought and experience. Others might not care about the lack of the EE expansion or Oceania.)
And also many times the game itself give some offline errors where you need to restart the game.
