The expansions offer many more hours and new achievements to earn
pros- very relaxing game. single player and playing with friends is easy to set up and a great time. The game is easy to replay over and over because of the amount of variety.
despite being a small game with a small community- there are always players online for maatch making. this is huge. hard to find this in a lot of games.
if you play in match making you get access to the expansion cards for those matches and you dont have to pay for them
Cons- sometimes online games will disconnect and you cant finish.
a few cards have poor balance but can be removed from the game play.
occasional bugs. they do push out updates though.
a common thing people complain about for this game is the online match making. sometimes matches dont complete because someone leaves and sometimes people take 4 minutes or more to take their turn so games can go on very long. The game lets you run as many online games at once as you like though. so its only a downside if you dont use this feature or do something on the side while you wait your turn
i played 100 hours of the base game and a 100 in each expansion they released putting me over 300 hours. i still consider it a fun and relaxing game that doesn't grow old. I do play it a lot less now though but would return for another 100 hours of games if they release the asain expansion on steam.
Wow!
Thank you for this detailed and comprehensive reply. I mostly play solo games but with a great community I may join for the first time in any game some multiplayer online games, And thank you again for your detailed answer.
But, as mentioned in this thread and numerous others, the online matchmaking against random players is terrible.
The developers are slow to fix bugs, and the asynchronous selection of starting cards and food (during real-time games) is inexplicable and unacceptable.
A few extra things to know:
1. I started playing against the AI in normal, then in hard, and I won both games, so imo the AI is very easy to beat (it took me like 6 matches to beat real people).
2. Random people in online matchmaking leaves games constantly, which is a very frustrating experience, so if you want a good online experience you'll have to go to the official discord, to the thread in which you can start a game with other people.
3. Since you like the solo experience, there's a game mode called 'Automa' that has their own rules, I haven't check it out yet but it seems that people like it as well.
Thank you, I appreciate all these helpful tips.
