Will they be adding more bird varieties, or is what's in the game is what you get?

We'll be adding the expansion content, and there are LOTS of new birds there! But other than that, we don't plan on adding any bird cards that are not present in the physical version of the game.

Hi, had asked this in another post; just wanted to check if you will also be adding the "Swift Start" promo pack set of 10 birds that I believe forms part of the physical version of the game these days. Thanks.

Will the expansion content birds be lumped in the the American birds so that all are included in the game at once, or will we have to choose whether to play the American set or one of the others (European etc.)?

They're expansions to the core set, they're played all together

Hi Folks: I wasn't clear from this reply whether the "Swift Start" birds were being added. For context: there are 10 cards in the original Wingspan physical board game which are not included in the online version. Details below. As the expansion packs may take some time to be released, it would be great to have these 10 birds be added as a separate update in the interim. Thx!

American Redstart, 4, forest, 1 invertebrate + 1 fruit, cup, 2, Brown, Gain 1 food of any type from the supply.
Black-chinned Hummingbird, 4, any, 1 of any, cup, 2, Brown, All players gain a fruit from the supply.
Brant, 3, water, 1 seed + 1 of any, ground, 2, When Played, Draw the three face-up birds in the bird tray.
Broad-winged Hawk, 4, forest, 1 rodent, stick, 2, Brown Roll all dice not in birdfeeder. If any are a rodent, gain 1 rodent and cache it on this card.

Thanks for stating this! It would be great to see a developer acknowledgment/ update on this point.

While we are eagerly awaiting the expansion packs, is it possible to add these 10 birds by way of a free update, given that the developer intention is to have all the cards from the physical game be in this digital adaptation?

If the birds listed above are the ten in the "Swift Start" pack, then they appear to be in the game. I just played the Brant and Vaux's Swift in my last game.

Were they added recently? Anyone know? I don't recall these birds when I was playing earlier this year.

update: they have been added but not sure when they did it. I have come back and there's a few birds i havent played.

i think they were added recently in a free update that released alongside the launch of the iOS version of the game.

Hopefully, this means its all hands on deck for the expansions :-)

Wasn't sure where to put this, and I imagine someone else must have pointed this out at some point but... there is no such bird as a Painted WHITEstart - it s/b Painted REDstart, lol.

That's correct. The International Ornithological Committee uses "Painted Whitestart" as the English common name for Myioborus pictus. The American Ornithological Society uses "Painted Redstart." See: https://www.worldbirdnames.org/new/bow/ - search for "Painted Whitestart."
