Achievement What the flock
Just curious. Who has the achievement What the flock ? It's the one that need to have tucked 25 card under ONE bird in a single game. Is it even possible to do it !?! There's 26 turns per game...:birdmallard:

I just managed it in a game against the AI using the Yellow-Rumped Warbler in the forest habitat. I drafted it along with the food it needed (one of fruit/invertebrate/seed) and a second bird, then played it into the habitat on the first round. Since it's brown power is to tuck a bird from my hand, then draw another bird, all I had to do was choose to activate the habitat, take a food, tuck the bird in my hand behind the warbler, then draw a new card. I always had a bird in my hand to tuck that way, so I just did this 25 more rounds. My final score - 26 points (1 for the bird and 25 for the tucked cards)!

Thank you for your answer ! I figured it out, but there's still so many achievements so hard to get :o I'm trying hard to get the one that I need to beat the Automa at hard level. Did you get that one, out of curiosity?

To beat the Automa on hard, you need around 90+ points, the highest I've seen the Automa score was slightly above 100, but it rarely happens. Some tips to get there:

1. The Automa doesn't profit from your birds handing out eggs, birds or food for free, so don't hesitate to use these cards - especially colibris and/or flycatchers in the middle row.

2. Birds with activated abilities get triggered more often than during an average 1v1 match, so sometimes it might be a valid option to play a vulture or similar birds during your first turn to get the most out of it.

3. Sadly, there are some round goals you just don't want to get when playing against the Automa, because it's very hard to get the maximum amount of points consistently. When you get "Birds in $area" for round four, the Automa will almost always have five "birds" at the end of the game and you can't play more than five, so you only get a draw. If you play the hard Automa several times, you'll be able to quickly figure out if your starting hand will be able to win all round goals or not.

4. The best round goals you can hope for are the "eggs in $nest" or "$nests with eggs", combined with a decent amount of "joker" birds (star type nest), because the eggs on your joker birds will count for several rounds. Look out for these birds!

4. Check the Automa's personal goal card and be aware of which birds he's more likely to "steal". If you see a bird you need, don't waste that much time to draw it if the Automa has a preference for it.

5. I've played a lot of games against the hard Automa and saved every end board that got me over 100 points. I'll give you a list of birds who are in my Top5 for each area. Note that this doesn't mean that they should be played in this exact order, but if you can get your hands on one or more of these, you're good to go!

Forest: Eastern Kingbird (gives you free food, Automa doesn't profit, also joker bird); Steller's Jay; American Woodcock (play during late game to get big points); Northern Flicker; Red-cockaded Woodpecker (good early game birds)

Plains: Anna's Hummingbird; Ruby-throated Hummingbird (cheap, free food only for you, versatile); Franklin's Gull (free card draw in middle row); Northern Raven (very op bird, try to get it out as early as possible, other crows are okay too); Black-billed Magpie (joker bird, gets activated a lot vs automa if played early).

Water: Northern Shoveler; Trumpeter Swan (big boys for late game); Clark's Grebe; Black Tern (joker birds); Double-crested Cormorant (can make a good combo with crows or ospreys).

That's it, I guess. A lot of the time it's just luck to get a good combination of goals and birds and being able to draw what you need at the right time. Hope this helped!

Wow, thank you so much for the tips! The birds will come in handy. Thank for the time you took for your answer :hoodedwarbler::steamhappy:

I managed to get that achievement today with pure luck. I managed to get a Northern Harrier (though any predator bird that reveals cards will do, some are probably better), a Hooded Merganser and a Gray Catbird in the same habitat. Since the Gray Catbird and Hooded Merganser both copy an ability, I could get three activations of my Northern Harrier each turn.

I initially wanted to try something with the Sandhill Crane or similar bird that tucks two birds in exchange for a food, but for that you'd need a reliable source of said food (for the ones that need seeds, a Spotted Towhee is probably your best bet), but even then to get the 25 birds you'd need to spend thirteen turns.

Thank you for your share! I didn't think about these powers. They sure came out handy in your case. That's a way better game than just do like I did. I thought of the one that tuck 2 cards after discarding a food, but I agree that you need to have a reliable source of that type of food and that's not always easy to find. Congratulations on your game! :hoodedwarbler:

Put Chihuahuan raven in field. Later, added a Mockingbird which allows you to duplicate a brown power in the same environment. Ended with a Crane that allows tucking two cards if you discard 1 wheat. Get eggs, activate crane, activate mockingbird to duplicate crane's power (in that case, the cards are all tucked under the crane, not the mockingbird), pay one egg to get 2 wheat, rinse, repeat. Ended up with 30 birds tucked under crane, and won the game as well.

Didn't think What the Flock was that hard...

Just get a sandhill crane/canada goose out with a repeat power bird and/or a Raven/crow that gives 2 food per egg.... pretty easy to achieve then. I literally just finished a game with a Canada goose with over 20 tucked cards and I only had them half way through the second to last round.

Yeah, the Canada Goose can go in the grassland, and then get something that lets you get grain from the supply or bird feeder, and just keep laying eggs. Canada Goose is one of my favorite birds when I can get a grain from a bird further to the right. :)
