Wingspan

Experiencing technical issues? Read this topic first!
This topic contains a list of things to check and possible solutions for some of the crash scenarios. Please keep in mind that crashes, just like wild birds, can sometimes be unpredictable and hardware/setup specific (crashes only, not birds), and thus, so can the solutions.

So, let’s assume your game crashed. You should (in order):
  1. Make sure your graphics card drivers are up-to-date and, if not, update them.

  2. Add Wingspan’s folder ([your Steam folder localization]\Steam\steamapps\common\Wingspan) to your antivirus software exceptions list.

  3. Ensure both Steam and Wingspan are also up-to-date. If not, make sure to update them.

  4. Try forcing a specific resolution (e.g. 1920x1080) with command line arguments.
Right-Click the Wingspan.exe in your game directory folder and Create Shortcut.
Once the shortcut is created, right click the shortcut and click Properties to edit it.
Change the “Target” to include the following command line parameters:
    -screen-fullscreen=0 -screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920

  5. Perform a file integrity verification. The details on the process can be found here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

  6. If the above don’t help, try reinstalling both Wingspan and Steam.

If all of the above fail, it’s time to let us know! Please send us an email to support@monstercouch.com. Provide as detailed a description as possible and attach the following:

  1. PLAYER LOG FILE
    - Open up Windows Explorer (to the left of the search bar) and copy and paste the following to the address bar: %appdata%\..\locallow\Monster Couch\Wingspan.
    - Press Enter. This will take you to the Wingspan log folder where you will find the player.log file.

  2. DXDIAG (only applicable to Windows)
    - Press the Windows key+R on your keyboard to access the "Run" window.
    - Type dxdiag.exe in the window.
    - Press Enter - this will open up the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
    - Click on the "Save All Information" button at the bottom of the diagnostic tool.
    - A "Save As..." window will pop up where you can click on save. It will save your hardware information as a document to your desktop (default).

  3. DMP Files (only applicable to Windows)
    - Open up Windows Explorer (to the left of the search bar) and copy and paste the following to the address bar: %APPDATA%\..\Local\Temp\Monster Couch\Wingspan\Crashes
NOTE: Depending on if your game has encountered crashes in the past, there may be a number of subfolders here. Inside the subfolders, there will be two text files (a log file and a text crash file) as well as a DMP file.
    - Put the entire Crashes folder into a single archive file (.zip, .rar).

Thank you!

Hi, for anyone having problems with missing text on Mac,

I'm sorry for your trouble, try going into settings -> video tab -> change resolution to 1280x800 (or anything really) and see if that helps. We've heard back that changing resolution helps with that problem.

We will work on a hotfix first thing in the morning tomorrow. I'm sorry this happened.

Best,
Krzysiek

With screening problem you can also try alt-tab, alt-enter key combinations.
