The game plays much like Fable 2. If liked Fable 2 you will probably like this game however there are a lot of problems with the game, flaws and such to take into account too. The friendship/relationship quests are for example quite tedious and VERY repetative...the game has a large amount of glitches, bugs and errors due to lack of effort porting it from the console. Such things as black screens, problems with compatibility on certain operating systems very unoptimized for PC GPU's. The worst offenses being GfWL which is still part of the game as of writing this and unsure about what will happen when GfWL ends at this stage. Steams GfWL is out of date for example and you have to uninstall it and go and download the latest one to even access the DLC's you purchased on Steam. The game is very easy both in terms of combat and story. For example by the time I reached the endgame battle I had over 20million gold when the battle itself only requires 6million (I won't say why as that might be too much into the spoilers factor), the ending itself was one of the bad aspects of this game too both in terms of final battle and ending sequence itself which was a big letdown.

Despite it's flaws the game itself prior to the ending and providing you can run it okay on your system regarding it's many bugs, glitches, poor optimization and compatibility problems...was quite enjoyable for the most part. Like I said it feels like Fable 2 on some ways. It may not be some people's cup of tea if they did not like Fable 2 and was hoping for more of a sequel to Fable 1 than Fable 2 but if you not one of those people you might enjoy it. I would say wait till it's on sale before picking up though, 50-75% off because the chance of having GPU, OS or other problems plus the poor optimization may leave a bitter taste in your mouth if pay full price and find runs badly or not at all on your system. The support from the developers on this title is non-existant. You will tend to need to ask other players for solutions to problems mostly with the game since feels like the developers ported the game in a way to save them the most time and effort and released it to the PC community with a big thanks for your money but don't bother us with your problems note on it.

The graphics are slightly better than the console version (providing you don't mind stuttering and such from time to time due to the poor optimization of the game for the platform), the music is good enough but can be repetative quite a lot. The VO work stands out as very good I feel, the emotion system is more difficult to use than Fable 2 and the sanctuary use can become tedious for simple tasks. The story is interesting enough but nothing amazing about it, the humor I feel was quite good though such as character banter and quests from time to time. The quick travel system is not great but adequate, took a while before realised you could quick travel to buildings not just the town but when not in towns you will end up doing a lot of running even after quick travelling to a location in order to reach place wanted to go. The dog is good in this one, though tricky to target for interactions. Also worth noting the game is more suited to gamepad than K/M.

Other things worthy of note is the Co-op is not so good with this title, it's okay if have friends who also own it and willing to follow you around but gain very little from doing so but if your friends aren't the kind who would do things for no reward then you may find yourself having to PuG some other players on the forum to help you with things. There is content in the game locked out for the player unless they use Co-op too which is a big issue for me in game design and a two fingers up to Lionhead from me for it. Such content is things like there are some demon doors in the game you can only open if someone else plays wth you etc. It is not a deal breaker for me though in that the rewards for doing that Co-op locked content has no impact on the story itself, more of a big annoyance to me that they would lock the player out of content they paid for when bought the game unless convince someone else or have someone else buy the game too in order for you to gain access to the content you already paid for.

Would I recommend this game? Sure but only if liked the direction Fable 2 was heading rather than hoping for another Fable 1 The Lost chapters and also only if you know enough about PC technical problems and solutions to work around the many problems this game has, those who struggle to solve such problems may struggle to even get this game to run but those who can might enjoy it. In the end this game damaged my opinion of Lionhead as a developer in a big way but it did not damage my love of the Fable franchise itself and I gained enough enjoyment once resolved the technical aspects to say it is worth picking up on sale provided you realise there are some large flaws and some minor ones in the game.

Fable III would've been the most unfairly hated game of generation 7 if Mass Effect 3 hadn't stolen its title.

Series creator Peter "God of Hype" Molyneux promised things that will still be impossible when Fable 7 arrives for the Xbox Three. The problem is that people tend to compare Fable III against its own hype, rather than as a game on its own merits.

The combat is most likely the weak point of this title. It's "X" for swords, "Y" for guns and "B" for spells - and all three are the same. Press the button to attack, hold the button to charge. There is little strategy or variance, just mash buttons until the enemies all die.

Despite being labeled an RPG, Fable III has more in common with Zelda than Skyrim. The leveling works on the 'road to rule' - you're experience points are called guild seals, and you use them to open treasure chests on the road to rule, which unlock abilities. However, the game only lets you open so many chests based on where you are in the main quest, so there is little point in grinding. Besides, you're almost certain to have every ability before the game ends anyway.

The storyline itself is pretty basic - the player assumes the role of the Prince/Princess, and your brother is an evil tyrant King. Gather the loyalty of people through the kingdom so you can replace him as monarch. On the other hand, the characters and dialogue are very well written. Most of the characters you meet - on both the main and side quests - are interesting and fun to listen to. While the main quest takes itself very seriously, the side quests are the polar opposite and provide comic relief. Want to help some actors get the script to a horrible play from the ghost of its creator? No really, that's a quest. You can also help a pair of ghosts goof off and party, release a swarm of insulting gnomes into the world, and trick an evil spouse into adultery so their partner can get a divorce.

The moral choices are the highlight of the game, which both helps and hurts this title. The basic idea is you need to make 'evil' choices to raise the money to ultimately save the kingdom - ie, if you want to to the right thing and save the people, you MUST make decisions that will make the people you're saving hate you. Pretty cool, but the game tries its best to make difficult decisions look like polar options. It doesn't help that every choice is labeled with pretty lights or demon fire, but the real issue is the illogical options and effects of some choices. For example - at one point you have the option to raise taxes, lower them, or keep them the same. Why does lowering taxes literally cost money to do? It should just mean you gain less money than with higher taxes. And is there some reason I cannot build both an orphanage and a brothel?

Overall, I enjoy this game. Whether you will depends on what you're expecting. If you believe even 5% of what Peter said, or expect an exciting action rpg, look elsewhere. But if you like fun quests, funny characters and sheer fun over technical quality, you might enjoy this game too.

The Fable series are a great set of games, each one being just as different as they are similar which brings alot of negative feedback about certain ones since Fable 1 was an exceptional game.

Fable 3 comes with alot of flaws but these flaws (in my opinion) can be fixed. For instance the game lacks alot of the colour from the former games making it feel alot more dull, this however CAN be fixed using SweetFX which there are 'guides' showing how to do this (worked for me and looks stunning now).
Also being a straight port from the xbox this game lacks alot of graphic options and the Vsync locks out at 30FPS but without Vsync the game gets some terrible screen tearing, so either way your gameplay will be ruinded if this isnt fixed, however I personally made a Guide on the steam forums on how to fix this for Nvidia users, not sure how its done on AMD sorry :(

Alot of people wont want to go through the effort of doing these things but for me... Fable is worth it, I love the series and the gameplay to me is worth the effort. The graphics are great once fixed, the storys fun and quirky and the game mechanics make Fable 3 very interactive and immersive. Well worth the buy in my opinion.

As I post this review on the 26/11/2013 I know that alot of people are having a problem with the game as Valve/Steam have run out of CD keys for Fable 3, a specific date hasn't been given as to when the keys will be recieved but my Fiancee (one of the many on the forums suffering from this problem) has been sent an email telling her that this WILL be fixed and she will be given what she has payed for as soon as the keys are recieved by them.
DO NOT let the negative reviews given by the people not recieving keys put you off this game, by all means wait until the forums state that keys are once again available but dont let it stop you purchasing the game in future. Its well worth the wait in my opinion.

I've played the game for about a week and it was fun, but then it crashed. The simple crash of the game wiped the savegames and I would have to start again. And that when I was near the end of the game. Not really in the mood to restart, perhaps it's possible to make a manual backup of the save game directory so when the worst happens it might be possible to restore it. So in short, fun game, bit dated console port though and a bad bug.

PS. It is possible to restore manual saves, but it's a pain none the less. (Mine was 2 days old, but at least I won't have to replay everything.)

Get lost in Fable III playing the roles of the honorable or the horrible. 5/5 *****

Game is quite nice, however it always had performance issues and such. If you follow this http://game.bramantya.org/fix-stupid-fable-3-blur/ and then go to Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Window Color and Appearance and disable transparency if you have win7 or change theme to windows vista basic under advanced at same area if you have vista. Once you do that and tweak the ingame settings to your liking ensuring the first fix is still in place it should run 100+fps on high-end hardware. If you get low fps 30~ every rare moon on load of area simply alt-tab out of game and back in instantly boosting frames back up. Simple fixes that should make the game enjoyable without having such problems that has helped me. Other than those stupid issues that was never patched the story and quality of everything is excellent from what i've played. I'm sure you will enjoy it if you can get it running nice.

Doesn't live up to the first Fable, but it's still a fun game.
