DLC with local profile?
I created the necessary online accounts (GFWL, xbox-live) to activate the game and download my DLC, as well as several of the free items. And it all seems to be working. But now I'd like to play offline. How do I do that?

1) Is there any way to set the online xbox-live account to offline?

2) I started playing with a local (offline) profile, which works fine for the main game, but the DLCs don't appear to be working with it. Can I associate the DLCs with a local profile? Or are DLCs limited to the online account?

Thanks!

Theres no way to set the online one offline [sadly ANOTHER flaw with gfwl].

Also I don't know about the dlcs but if i were you I would just find a way to transfer your saves from online to offline mode then you could theoretically just get the dlcs from online and then transfer when you wanted to play offline.

You can swap saves, but you need to make backups of the whole folder first, and you need to start a new game for the files to replace. Your save files are in C:\Users\[username]\Saved Games\Lionhead Studios\Fable 3\

Those wierd numbered/lettered folders are your profiles.
In my case I started on my offline profile on accident, and played about 10 hours. Then I went to add my DLC, but you have to be online for that, so I logged on to my Xlive account, where it promptly made me start a new game. So instead of starting a new game right away, I exited the game and then I went to the save games folder and made a mental note of the folder name for later. Then I started a new game, skipped all the intro sequences, and when I got control I quickly saved the game and then exited the game. Then I went back to the directory and copied both the folders (there should be a new one now), then I went into the old one, copied the files, then pasted them into the new folder. Easy as meat pie ;)

And actually I *think* you can set your Xlive account to "offline" by starting the game with no internet and trying to log on. If I remember right it will ask you if you want to play with that profile offline.
I could be wrong, but I remember doing something similar for Batman a few years ago.

Thank you both!

Jynxx, you're right, the 'online' account sets itself offline if there's no internet connection. How did I fail to try that before? Bit of a nuisance, having to force it into offline that way, but at least it works.

Simply swapping of saves didn't work for me, I get a corrupted file message. From what I understand, this is because the save includes data that locks it to its profile. How did you solve that issue? Did you strip out and/or replace data in the save? Or copy certain profile files?

No, that's very wierd. Literally all I did was copy the files from one folder and paste them into the other.

In case anyone else has the same issue, I managed to solve half the problem: I was able to transfer the save from the local profile to the online profile using Timeslip's Fable3 save editor. Transplanting the xuids and the GFWL data (as per the instructions in the readme) did the trick. So far, it seems to be working all right and the DLCs show up.

What I wasn't able to do is transfer the save back to the offline profile without losing the DLCs again.
