Black Screen

Just finished isntalling 'Fable 3' I launch the game I get a ablack screen, I can still use Steam in-game, but thats it. Bear in mind I'm on Windows 8 is there anyway I can fix this? Thanks

solution is to fix your games for windows live. try to signin before loadding fable. I had to accerpt the terms by signing into xbox.com. basically you need to check what the error codes given to you by the games for windows live client when you have fixed all of those errors and can launch the client you can launch the game. btw: untill you fix this you will have the same problem with all "games for windows live" games.

It didn't give my an Error code, just a black screen.

1. uninstall all previous versions of Games For Windows Live there might be two. (uninstall apps through Control Panel)
2. download and install Microsoft Flight thru the Steam Store.
3. after install, go to directory on harddrive where Microsoft Flight is installed. Mine was Steam/Steamapps/Common/Microsoft Flight/Setup/GFWLive (then run the install for Games For Windows Live) gfwlivesetup.exe
4. after install of GFWL don't sign in, just close window.
5. Go back into Steam, and start (play) Microsoft Flight.
6. When Microsoft Flight starts up, it will have you setup GFWL. It will go through a setup process.
7. After you get to the main screen on Microsoft Flight (Title Screen) click on "LIVE"
8. Log into GFWL, after Logging in you should see the GFWL at top section of screen showing you are logged in.
9. Shutdown/Close Microsoft Flight with ALT F4.
10. Go to your Fable 3 location in Steams Library. Then click on PLAY!
11. It will log you into GFWL to setup Fable 3 with product key and you should be Good To Go!

You can fix it without having to install Flight, simply uninstall the two GFWL programs then reinstall that latest version from the xbox website. Worked for me and couple of othes running Windows 8 without having to do any of the other steps listed above.

I had the same problem.
Uninstall your current games for windows marketplace (2 versions) go to xbox.com and download the newest version link: http://www.xbox.com/pt-BR/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient
