Fable III

Fable III

Any Way to Get the Free DLC?
I bought the complete edition of Fable 3, so I have all the paid DLC, but I'm sick of Jasper telling me there's something new in the marketplace. I go and check but I can't download any of the free DLC because it requires GFWL. Is there any way to get it other than via GFWL?

Nope. Can't be gifted either.

GFWL should be running when you start the game anyway.

Yeah, GFWL is running, and I just put in all the codes for my paid DLC, but when I try and download any of the free DLC I get this message:

"Can't retrieve information from live. Please try again later

Status Code 80153022"

GFWL marketplace is shut down, so even free content can't be purchased anymore- since the content itself is directly tied to GFWL....no :(

Have you tried uninstalling Games for Windows Marketplace and downloading the latest version?

I'm still able to run the program and download the free DLC.

Are you downloading from in-game or from the GFWL Marketplace program? Because I can't see any way to browse available content on the program, only stuff I already downloaded.

I recall having a similar problem when I got Fable 3 at release. The problem then was the fact that a lot of the DLC (paid and free) are actually in the same download. So while one would download and install, the others would not. I had to download and install, then uninstall each DLC via the GFWL Marketplace application until I'd gone through them all. Only then did the game recognise that all had been downloaded and installed correctly.

This is terrible. People who have only started playing the game recently are now unable to get the free DLC. This is some real BS. Atleast we still get the paid DLC.

Guys, you can still get the free dlc, everything still works fine. I bought the game and all paid dlc's in 2012, never purchased any of the free dlc's. But i just started installing and playing yesterday and I did get all free dlc successfully.

-Just remove the current GFWL and install the latest version of it from here: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Live/PC/DownloadClient

Then play the game, the free dlc items will show up in the Live room in sanctuary. Press E on your keyboard or A on the xbox controller and GFWL will opens downloading the dlc. Do that with each item showing up in the Live room and you will get all 9 free dlc. Then go check your Marketplace client, you should see that you have all 5 paid dlc and 9 free dlc installed now.

-You can also remove Fable III, then install the latest version of GFWL and reinstall Fable. If you do this, when you launch Fable III and start a new game (note that you may not be able to use your last save), it will say that you're missing something and show all 14 dlc on GFWL for you to download: http://imgur.com/8zXJulv

*sigh* I tried everything above, nothing worked. Not like I needed the free stuff, but it would have been nice. Thanks for the information none-the-less.

you need to log on to your online profile not the offline one to get all dlcs - both paid and free. I just did it - so it can be done post-G4WL death.

be sure to download the new client (link in a sticky on the forum here).

Worked for me thank you. Anyway to backup the DLC incase we don't have access to it in the future?
GR4V3 MIST4K3 26 ENE 2014 a las 22:39
Unfortunately, I don't think so. I'd just backup the entire folder to an external hdd.

G4WL is evil that way - a lot of cool games have their content inaccessible.

BTW: after you get free stuff from the sanctuary store - you have to restart the game and go to a new area (some of these items are area-locked/quest-locked).

I got the free DLC yesterday when I downloaded the paid DLC (it would not let me download the free stuff directly). They appeared as gifts, afterwards (download size of several of the paid and of the free was exactly 387.19MB (or something like that) so they were likely all in the same download package). Maybe Jasper is still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it, though; I don't remember.

I cannot for the love of god get the download to work sadly...
Always I get :
"Can't retrieve information from live. Please try again later

Status Code 80153022"

And yes I tried the new client, I tried the old client, everything. In game in the Santuary I see all free DLC gifts, and Jasper says everytime I enter : blabla new stuff blabla.... Activation of my paid DLC worked great, however I cannot get the free DLC:
Anyone has a last idea ?
