Fable III Availability on Steam

Hello,

As many of you will already know, in August 2013 the Games For Windows Live Marketplace was closed[support.xbox.com]. This shut down means that product keys for Fable 3 and its associated DLC are no longer being created, and therefore the game and its DLC cannot be purchased from GFWL or Steam. Of course, if you have already purchased the game you’ll still be able to download and play it.

It’s worth noting that those with DLC codes still waiting to be redeemed should redeem them in-game, and not via the xbox.com website (for more info see this thread). This is because we’ve found an issue relating to DLC keys that are redeemed via the xbox.com website which will result in the key becoming unusable. We’re looking into this issue currently and hope to have it fixed soon.

In the meantime though, if you have tried to redeem your code via Xbox.com and have encountered this problem, please get in touch with Xbox Customer Service[support.xbox.com], as they will be able to assist you further.

Also consider doing a Steamworks transition instead of just letting the game die, just like the majority of GFWL based Steam game developers are currently doing.

I've been waiting to see what's going on with this game before i activate it.

Will i still get a key if i activate it now?

Chris, heads up. Fable III is being removed from players' gamelist. Probably and issue that your team would like to get sorted.

I would like some confirmation here as Im getting a little annoyed.
I had bought Fable III Collection a while back as a giftable copy. now in the giftable copys description it says that it includes 1 item, "Fable the lost chapters". It should also contain fable 3 and its DLC...
I would like to know wether or not this gift copy has fable 3 in it anymore or weather I should be seeking a refund from steam support?

It's obvious that it SHOULD be there since you paid for it but also obvious that nobody can know whether it's there until it's open. Perhaps you should save your annoyance and demands for a refund until you're certain you've been screwed.

The death of GfWL seems a portent of how foolhardy we've been to invest in digital media. What are we going to do when none of our games are still available for download?
