Game crashes (fable 3 main executable has stopped working) when pressing play through steam

The game launches outside of steam, if I go to the file in steamapps, and hit launch it loads fine. However I can't launch it with steam. I've browsed the interwebs for a fix, but I can't find anything useful. Maybe someone knows something and can share.

Help please.


Edit: I've fixed the game not loading while launching through steam. Solution was to simply delete (move) my save file temporarily. It's found in C:\User\(name)\my saves\lionhead\
Simply copy the lionhead folder somewhere else, start the game, and it fixed.

Also, check to make sure you don't have any overlays. Xfire was also cauing my fable 3 to crash after windows live signed in.


Now I just need to find out how to import my old save properly... It's till not showing up in load.

properties - local files - verify file catch ... did you try that? are you using win 7 or win 8? if win 8 try to go to your game folder and make compatibility mode to win 7

Tried it a million times. The game runs as long as it doesn't run through steam... However I did fix that. Now I'm running into the issue of my save files not exising. It wasn't loading my saves outside of steam, and now it's not loading my saves inside of steam either. It simply won't take my save. I'm pretty upset about that because I was around 40% in.

Indeed it's the same account. And online mode. It's the same profile I use for all my GFWL games, and it still has my Dirt 2/3 saves active, as well as red faction and whatever others seem to be working.

Awesome, I got it working. My "fix" was the fact it's not saving where it's supposed to in C:\users\***\Saved Games\Lionhead Sudios\
But instead C:\users\***\Lionhead Studios\

Simply copying from saved games\lionhead to \lionhead fixed my problem. Game is not working like it used to.

so i got fable 3 on steam at first i was getting the black screen and strange cursor problem but i ended up fixing that and i thought everything was fine. but i ended up runnng into another problem where i would play the game for about 10 or 12 minutes and then the game would crash with the pop up saying "fable 3 main executable has stopped working" plzz someone help me i love fable i love lionhead and i want to be able to experience this amazing game properly so i can bring it back to its glory days
