Bought the game years ago
Hello, so I had a question. I bought the hard disk copy of this game when it first came out meaning I have a hard copy of the key.

Despite all that has happened, is that key still worth anything or should I just throw it and the game away? With it no longer being on steam I wouldn't be able to use the key to add the game to my steam would I?

If you mean DVD copy, no you can't use that to add it to steam. You can always try it. However the game still works, you would need the key to install it. Steam keys are still sold on Amazon, and they work to add the game to steam. I highly doubt the key can be used by anyone else.

What? What you just said confuses me...

If I mean DVD? It's a hard disk, what else would I be talking about?

I can't use my key? But the game will still work? Which is it does will the old key work or not?

Yes I heard keys are sold on Amazon but I'm not buying game I literally already own again, thanks for the response.

They never sold Fable 3 on Hard Disks. For PC it was DVD, Download from Steam, and Download from GFWL. Xbox 360 had DVD, it can be downloaded on Xbox One or use the 360 DVD.

Until you can figure out if you have the DVD copy, GWFL copy, or Steam copy no one can help.

Is a a DVD, I just call then disk because that's literally what it is, a disc with data on it, that's not even what's important, what is important is if whether or not the key that came with the game can be used to add the game to steam.

As I said before the key from the DVD can not be used to add the game to Steam. It can be used to install the game and play it.

Isn't the whole windows live thing gone? Wasn't that a requirement to play it from the disc? Again it's been years since I last played this so my memory is foggy, you're saying it can be used to play the game but the game required something that's no longer around.

It mostly is, but the game still needs it. All version for PC need it to be installed or use some way to remove it. If you want to play COOP it needs to be installed.

Then how does the key still let me play a game that still needs something that has been shut down? This is why I'm being confused, I'm being told both yes and no here.

No, you're not. GFWL has been shutdown, but if you did any looking you would have found that there was and is software called GFWL. I have told you this many times, you need that software or to remove the games dependence on it.

Let's pretend Steam were to shut down. What you're saying is you can't start Steam in offline mode or use 3rd party servers for games because Steam was shut down.

Just like Steam is made of of the Software you install on your desktop, and the service that it connects to, So is GFWL.

If you don't like what I'm telling you yet again, just throw it away. I'm tired of answering the same questions with correct answers that you simply just do no like. I have told you all you need to do to play the game, and answered if you can add it to steam. You just didn't get the answer you wanted.

It has nothing to do with not liking what you were telling, what you were saying made no sense which is why I asked for clarification, I get it now thanks bye.

Yes, it does. You didn't like the answer the first time so kept asking for a different one, and never got it.

You can still use gfwl you can still sign in to a Xbox/microsoft account as if it was a Xbox people saying it shut down completely is straight wrong I can still download my profile and sign in earn Xbox / gfwl achievements etc. the only thing that’s gone is the site and the launcher all other functionality of gfwl is still working because Xbox / Microsoft servers are still running and gfwl is basically an Xbox with a logo of gfw on it. As seen when you open the home menu in said game.
