Can't start a multiplayer game

Hey there. My friend and I just got this game, but we cannot get a multiplayer game to start.

Everytime he joins me, we pick our characters and click ready, but nothing happens. We've tried restarting our games, restarting PC's, verifying integrity of game files (although we JUST bought this game), switched who hosts, the whole nine yards.

Whatever we do, we just cannot get our multiplayer game to start. We've been hosting it as a friend lobby and a public lobby, but nothing happens.

We're both in the US if that info helps, and we've never had any connection issues in any other game.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
