Finally beat the game! - stupid screenshots
It took me 80~90 hours to beat the whole game without any hints.
I don't even know how to actually get to many of the snowmen the intended way. There are some absolutely absurd and insane set-ups I made to get to a bunch, and you can clearly see it isn't intended because of the dozen-or-so softlocks I've found when getting to islands.

So, I'm going to post screenshots of all the fun stuff I've been up to as a reflection on finally beating the game, regardless of if anyone's going to see it since the game has been out for years now.

My first (very tunnel-visioned) cheese:

The most convenient hub island that can be used to acquire at least SEVEN snowmen:

Failed experiment: (never got to do much with it)

Absurd solution to the mortarboard friend:

Moving logs around another region:

Of all these cheeses, the bumblebee solution is the most absurd.

I've never found any other game that's quite like this in how much you can break the boundaries of the puzzles. Other games are usually very conservative about how far meta-puzzles go, so A Monster's Expedition spanning the entire map and letting you import logs from across the world is insane. None of the cheese solutions ever felt like they took away from the game, they're rewarding in their own right.

I didn't even realise one of the game's mechanics (a certain log type) until right at the end, because the region that makes you use it is the 3rd last area I got to. That might've made some of the solutions more doable, or some of the cheeses even cheesier, but the mechanic doesn't get used much anyway.
OK. Now I can finally stop bothering my non-puzzle-game-playing friends about puzzle games.
