He's definitely too strong. For now, the best strategy is to hide behind the pillar and move around it when he teleports next to you. Take pot shots at him. It can help to save a powerup before entering the room. Also make sure you're full of life. You can check this vid for more in depth tips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEm9Ihr_vKU

I believe in you, everyone has done it, so you can do it too. Cheating would be a hollow victory :p

The first time I fought him, he was a pain in the rear. The second time I completely destroyed him because I got the most overpowered legendary shotgun ever. It fires so fast it might as well be a Minigun.
Also, Minigun are too rare. :(

If you're not lucky to get a good shotgun, look for a tier 2 Demonlitionist's rifle. That tends to melt him fast with decent dodging.
If you are lucky, you can get a nightmare reaper spawning before him. The potion's alt-fire will melt his health down very fast.

Lucky you, I've got that fire bolt shooting book and boss completely owns me

Ouch. You'll have to keep hoping for a good weapon spawn, and use the money gained to upgrade the fire resistance and weapon quality bonus. THat will get you a higher chance of good weapons.

SAve the Nightmare Reaper if it spawns anywhere near his area.
You'll do a lot of damage with that alt-fire, and circle-strafing will save you from the boss long enough to kill him with normal weapons afterwards. Automatic weapons to his head are better than most other weapons, save for silly overpowered shotguns.

Try a Spark Book instead and spam the right click close to the boss, it drains their health like crazy. Right now lightning is OP compared to Cold or Fire Magics.

My strategy was to get a rocket launcher (Or any long-ranged weapon) and just run back and forth between the two pillars. If you're lucky, he'll get stuck inside and buy you a quick few seconds to score some hits and run away. Keep doing that and dodge the fireballs and you should be good

He's a real ball buster, like that one boss in a game that signifies the difficulty shift. What really sucks is that the stage itself is way too long. I used to rage quit after 2-3 tries, not because of the boss, but because I didn't want to slog through the stage again just to get melted within 20 seconds. By the time you get to him, I was usually low on health, ammo or both. Plus I didn't have any good weapons which really screwed me.

I've beaten him three times though, pre-magic buff with a poison staff. Another time a freezing chainsaw with +range, I was dicing him up from around corners. Recently I destroyed him with my new favorite weapon: a pump action shotgun that has +2 additional attacks and crazy push back. Seeing him sent flying across the stage with each shot was some of the most satisfying revenge for all the times he's killed me but had a sliver of health left.

Best thing you can do is hope for a good weapon drop and get deeper in your skill tree. You'll beat him eventually.

The level is shorter since the last patch by the way.

Just went through it again on another save. Much better stage layout compared to before. I liked the boss' difficulty because it forces you to get deeper in the skill tree and/or get a better weapon drop. Lightning orb might be my favorite magic weapon now too.
