Great Britain is easier play thanks to the English Channel. If you want to dominate Europe early in a long campaign, Prussia is the best, though. The problem with playing Britain and France is that you have to invest heavily in your navy early on. More fleets means fewer armies, and armies are what allow you to capture regions. Prussia is such a potential powerhouse because you can go for a long time with just a couple brigs to keep your ports occupied. You can then put all of your money towards recruiting armies and growing your economy. Conquering Europe early in the game is the best way to ensure late game success because you will have far less competition if you destory most of the great nations early.
