How to get a modern university??

im playing as sweden and i have all the philopshy stuff researched besides the stuff the modern univrsites has to offer how do i build it wont giv me option??

It has to be built in your capital region, so you may need to clear out a religeous building to build the university tree. Hope this helps

As above... Capital Region only... This is why i make my capital regions Tech centres.. Not economic centres. Its a bit rubbish of the game engine but thats the way they programmed it.

These uny's are faster than the others so for the countries that have more than four or more towns to develop in their Capital regions you can have two or more modern Universities there.. Britain could have three as could France and Spain. As Russia i had Three in Moscow region with the other towns as happiness buildings.. finished the tech tree in no time.

Just watch the clamour for reform and counter when needed.

I have a classic university in a land of capital, but I can not build modern university, it does not appear to me after the construction of the classic university, I play with the thirteen colonies.

Ok, it depends on which region you are calling the capital region. To know which one it is go to the region's building browzer, then pick a city other than the actual capital, go down the school building tree of that city (try Harrisburg, PA. or New Haven, Hartford, New England) to see if you can build a modern university there, if you can then that is the capital region (likely Pennsylvania, possibilly the Confederation of New England, it's one or the other). Historically, Philadelphia, PA. was the capital of the 13 Colonies.

you are correct, it is Pennsylvani playing as 13 colonies, in case it is the capital of the nation for what I am understanding, because it is the only region that is considered a capital that allows me the construction of modern university. thank you

You can have more then one modern university. Research in the philosophy tree "Rights of Man" and give the technology (and the other two that are needed to upgrade the university, "Empiricism" and "Utilitarianism") via diplomatic relations to another faction. They will build a modern university in the capital. After that you just take the region from them by force. The modern university will be there even after you conquer the region. There is no mechanic in the game, which will downgrade it in the newly conquered region, so your additional modern university is save.

The native Longhouses built by some of the North American tribes are almost as effective as a Modern University at technology research - and with less Call For Reform penalty. They are well worth getting when available.
