stupid question, but have you tried to run it without forcing proton? because empire runs native on linux

no, i normally only use proton due to my storage config

if you're on linux, you can only play with other linux/mac players

i fixed it, for note with msvcp80 installed and proton the game will launch

and how do I check what I'm using

for proton in the games, properties, for msvcp you need to use protontricks a app from the discover store (On steam deck this is located in desktop mode)

For me I had to install DXVK manually using protontricks. Now it works great.
