Native americans grossly unbalanced.

I think they are argueably overpowerd. I'm native american, but these guys are seriously ♥♥♥♥ing me off. They are a nightmare to fight.They have severe weaknesses no navy, or walled settlements almost no artillery. They still smash european armys though. European armys are ♥♥♥♥ty against them. Even with bayonets,fire by rank and square formation they still just steamroll through my armys.

I have tryed various tatics to fight them. I'm playing as the british and they are constantly spamming large armys invading my areas, they have nearly destroyed the 13 colonies, I've given up on them.

Various things i've tryed on them.

Getting all the the infantry tech I can, Bayonets,fire by rank,sqaure formation.The bayonets help but they still overpower me and break through my lines sometimes.

Artillery, doesn't work that great on them reason being is almost all their units are hidden untill they are really close to you, by witch time I hit some of my own friendly troops with them just making them rout quicker.

I have tryed using some light infantry they do good, but as soon as they start shooting. They just swarm them and the light infantry rout in half a second, even if they only lose like 5 men.

Some of the elite native units witch they love spamming, have an insane amount of specials.
Such as heat,cold resistance,scare,inspire,hidden while walking.high morale.Larger numbers.

So yeah the natives seem to be superior to european armys, being as european fighting styles are crappy on them. Maybe eastern empires, like Ottoman or Martha would fare better against them since they actually have some melee units.

But yeah they seem op vs western factions, anyone know some tatics to defeat the natives? I'm playing on hard with darthmod by the way.I can hold my own against european empires and easern factions, But the natives are constantly a headache.

In the Regular game the Indians are pretty weak,speccially vs cav(if used well) and line inf but if you play the Warpath Campaign, you will have a whole new opinion

One thing i might try would be to use light cavalry to go out and spot units so that your artillery can fire on them. I've never tried Britain, I've only used Russia and Sweeden, but maybe if Britain has some decent melee units you could try using them to slow down the Indian melee units while your line infantry fires on them.

I once took an army of French Granadiers and burned through the Iroquios, so I have trouble comprehending how you had trouble doing this.

The most cost effective way I ever dealt with the indians was to send in an army of Ottoman Empire swordsmen. The indians always charge in to quickly to use musket infantry against them effectively. Very elite musket infantry could beat them easily but not for the expense of deploying such an army to fight against indians. Swords and pikes are the best way to fight indians because the indians in large numbers are always going to manage to close into melee combat.Once into melee combat their weapons are better than muskets but not against swords pikes and cavalry. Always expect to fight the indian armies hand to hand. Tomahawks are not as good as swords or pikes. But they are far better than muskets in close range.

historically native american warriors and other irregulars , fought better than line infantry ... british infantry tried to use european tactics , eg. staying in line formation , bayonet charges etc. which didnt work well in colonial North america . So no native american troops arent overpowered , in fact they may be a bit underpowered imo.

The problem with that logic is that it was only true part of the time. The Indians had their days (Braddock's defeat being the most infamous) but the regulars and rangers also had theirs.

The mod just doesn't show the latter.

fire by rank ,cav Canister shot & useing the lay of the land, camp & let them come to you , love fighting them myself on Darthmod ,all ways a bit sorry when I finish them off , had some great battles against them

Never used darthmod but my tactics for facing the Natives were as such:

-A lot of cannons to kill tons of Natives before they even get close. When they start getting really close i stop firing and switch to shot cannister and then let my troops gets some rounds in, when the Natives are within range i open all my cannons with cannister shot to rip the enemy to shreds.

-I put good strong units on either side of my cannons to absorb the impact of charging natives.

-Cavalry on the wings (sides). When the natives rush in i send my cavalry in to hit them from the rear and sides then i got them trapped between my infantry and cavalry. Routing them is only a matter of time...then simply run them down.

-Use the land if you can. I always try to position myself so that the enemy either has to run up a hill to me, or position myself so that i have a flank protected by like a cliff face or something. Or if i can find a thick forest i'll position myself back far enough so i can't get flanked.
