How do you duel?

I have ALOT of time spent in Empire, but I've never really used my gentlemen to duel before (I usually like to keep them in schools to insure that I'm always the most advanced country in the world). But I got into a major war with the Ottoman's, and now their scholars are swarming my colleges trying to steal my technology.

I know the game says to click on the duel button, but that doesn't seem to do anything. I do have darthmod installed so I guess that could be making the game act weird somehow, but I've never really had any problems with it before.

I don't have darthmod, so I'm not sure this will help. I click on my gentleman, then click on the gentleman (or rake) with whom I want to duel. Then you click the duel button. If that doesn't start the duel process I'm not sure what the problem is.

Perhaps someone with darthmod can comment on whether duels are allowed.

Some people you can't duel with, i believe it's only Europeans you can duel with. I know i've tried against Indians and Mughals and it didn't work. Your best bet is assassination.
