Good ol Martha

I luv this game and still play it do this day. Off n on hehe.

Anywho, my only wish is that Martha gets threatened. Through at least 50 games with different starting countries and skill level, Martha has only been beaten by Mugal once.

I have yet to see a country attack Martha in their homeland. So Martha gets to launch marine invasions at their leisure. And being very freindly? Blah, try n hold iceland without Martha trying to get thier greedy little hands on it. Their freindship is just to lawl u to sleep while they backstab u:)

Basically what i'm saying is, without any real outside threat, Martha is always at endgame. Lately i just destroy Martha myself cause noone else will early game. Or just build a half decent fleet and destroy all thier harbors to keep them pinned in. Cause i grow tired of Martha cherry picking ground without any retaliation on thier homeland. This however disrupts my whole gameplay as i also have to worry about my neighbors.

So when i play, i only have 2 choices. Invade Martha myself/taking their navy out of the picture. Or to ally with them and that just throws off my conquer the whole map gameplay style. Sure i can just finish them off in the end, but that gets old with Martha always being the last to go. And them doing ninja invasions if i dont take care of the ports every round can be a bit frustrating.

Guess this turned out to be a rant post agains Martha:) Anywho, just wish there was a way to change the game where Martha gets invaded or at least threatened by other countries on their homeland.

its a rant, but you're 1000-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-% correct. im tired of the Marathas always ruining my world domination plans. I have actually based my games around it. If i play as The Ottomans, I give the Mughals what $ i can spare occasionally as well as all of my tech. This gives them enough strength to hold back the Marathas before they can gain much land. Then when i'm locked n loaded i roll into the south point at Carnatica and take that, work my way up and establish South Indian Ottoman colony.You could also even just give them the land. I like to give land to my allies, especially major cities, i.e. Egypt--> Barbary States, because it gives smaller countries that are protectorates or allies a chance to rise to help you more. If not, crush them and take their territory.

I also like to play as the Mughals and just crush the marathas. I have one particular save game where my Mughal Empire covers all of the India theatre, the Mid-East, all of North Africa (to Morocco), and the Balkans up to like Austria and near Crimea. They can be just as brutal as...Martha lol.

Essentially; Anyone who holds India in Empire can dominate the entire world very easily. It's endless..whatever Total War's currency is...Gold?

Lol, i play like u:) If i don't have enough power for a complete early game wipe and maintain, i'll give the lands to my smaller allies (they are easier to backstab later hehe). As u said, will help em have some funds etc to help against your other enemies. Then i take same army and just keep steamrolling every last city 1 by 1 without having to worry about rebellions cause my ally has em. Plus it gives me a safe place to heal up cause Martha is to busy going WTF cause of my cities zerg to muster up a fight against an ally. (i dont let my ally join the fight when i start the war against Martha:)

If i run a game without an ally, i just let the regular rebels take over. Or give them to the harmless indians if i'm not spain/uk/france. I swing back later game to reclaim. I take their main city last.

The naval blockade works 2, but very tedious as u have to destroy em every round.

I need to get that mod where i can be the Mughals. Your game sounds so much fun. Musta had a doo doo eating grin while u were wiping out Martha from the get go:)

Anywho, your post gave me a chuckle:) And good to see some1 else out there feeling the Martha pain.

In vanilla Mughals always went down like a fat kid at dodgeball. (With that very rare occasion where they win and had me scratching my head). With Darthmod the Mughals now got in shape and did some pushups cuz now they can beam those Marathas smack in the head with that dodgeball. But I have not noticed any sneaky ninja raids by the Mughals to Iceland, Carribean Islands, etc. I think that Maratha definately was always end game, but if the Mughals win they just don't realize that it's okay to be an endgame faction, they just stroll around without a care in the world.

I do remember one game where they were just my trade partners but not allies. And then I noticed a few of their fleets appear in the caribbean and sweep through my colonies. My vengeance was swift

Play as one of the maritime Empires (especially the Dutch, but British/French/Swedes or even Spain work in a pinch). Start sending an army into India early with the help of fleets and Ceylon. Start dividing and conquering in the Subcontinent early, and your superior troop types (especially for the Dutch/British/French/Swedes) will tell.

Strangle the problem in its' cradle.

Haha I played as the Dutch and remember trying that, made the mistake of not going in in force, initially made good progress and then just couldn't hold back the hordes. I bought some time with a peace treaty and secured my position in Europe and America so that I could hit them in force second time round.

Darthmod changes India quite a bit. For Starter Mughals are much more powerful. Most of the time AI Mughal wipes Martha or at least keeps pinned to a few areas. Also in Darthmod. France and Great Britain start with 1 region in India.

Venice became my all time hated country in Darthmod Custom. Trading territories with the Iroquois. I like playing as the Thirteen Colonies and hate it because they took a page out of the Maratha's How to be a Ninja Book as well.

I'm not even gonna... nah...

In relation to the Marathas, I agree. Although sometimes in my games the Mughals actually beat them in vanilla games. Yes, the Mughals beat the marathas at some points. But never have I seen any European Power try to take over their lands. I don't know why the game would build up a sense of urgency to colonize that area as Great Britain if France won't even show up for the race.

I just invaded the remnants of the Mughal empire as Denmark before the Marathans could re muster their forces and execute the Mughals, I just backdoored them and took out Persia as well. Taking a few provinces in india is pretty critical to being able to respond to any one faction controling to much of india, which would lead in uber indian marine teams going to kicking peoples teeth in. Now that I have my foothold in India and the Marathans lost tons of men to the Mughals, I use that time to build up stacks of line infantry and cannons to blitz through Marathan lands if need be.

So far it's working, I control Northwest India and Persia, so if it's necessary to deal a fatal blow to the Marathans it won't take me 3 turns to sail armies and invade.
