Warpath campaign tax set to 0.0% by enemies
Has anyone else noticed that if an enemy sets the tax for a provence to 0.0% to avoid unhappiness there is no way for you to rise it back up to "normal" so that you can actually recieve any money from the provence no matter how well developed or happy it is.

Warpath was pretty lame anyway. ETW is full of strange things like that. But that's CA.

I actually like empire total war probably the most out of all the total war series. Not sure, maybe medieval 2 was/is better. It has much better mods for it.

I have had it since it was first released but never really played the warpath campaigns enough to notice how dodgy they were.

Oh I definately love Empire the most. And I've gotten all the Total Wars on their release date since I first played Rome I . but Empire is just my all time fav. I have like almost 2000 hours of play (on steam, mind you lol)

Damn I have nearly 700hrs on steam, though I probably clocked up just as many hrs before I added it to my steam account. I am hoping for an empire 2 total war but am not holding my breath.

I've been rappin about an Empire II forever. I want it to take place after Napoleon. Fall of the Samurai showed us that CA can make a TW in later 19th century. So I want Empire II to take place from the end of Napoleon's reign and up. It will also be worldwide again, but better, since CA can make a gargantuan Europe/Mid-East/Africa for Rome II + Attila. This century is still ripe with revolution :] as well as nationalism obviously. Industrialism would make the game so brutal. Artillery and naval advancments would be more important. They could make a huge, excellent game for this, but I believe most Total War players are ALL about melee weapons...

Anyway, examples of wars/campaigns that could be highlighted could be...

- Ten Years War
- American Civil War
- Franco-Prussian War
- Unification of Italy
- Unification of Germany (Prussia)
- The (I think) two Russo-Turkish wars, which would lead into...
- The Crimean War

These are just the major wars that stand out during that century. And there's also the Opium Wars, Colonization of Africa (and other places), and a TON more. There would just be endless room for CA to take my money with DLC. But alas, I don't think Empire was one of their successes in their eyes. Not many people like it as much as we do. There are a handful that I know of, if that.

and don't tell me to play Victoria II please :Dignity:. I really dislike paradox just because of the ridiculous learning curve. It's basicaly just an empire simulator instead of the amazingness of total war.

CA should take my advice and be awesome lol

If CA could get planes working I think that the time period from 1900-1950 would be absolutely awesome. I think they could use a similar mechanic as they did for naval bombardment from fall of the samuri if the battle occured within a certain range of a friendly air field. This could work in both the strategic or the tactical map.

But generally mankind has been at war since the first primate threw a rock at its friend and knocked him of his branch, so any time period that is well researched could do.

I can't believe anyone would want to play as those barbarians.

The problem is, that after 1900 + Line Infantry dissapeared, so it wouldnt really work unfortunately.

Yeah and the battles would be...massacres. To say the least units would be so deadly that he who fires first, wins.

They still had "units" and massed formations, but artillery, static defences and possibility mobile guns would play a much greater role particularly in the later years.

Warpath is such a disappointing play-through. It feels like they only put it out because they were obligated to let players play tribes. I know that the Total War series is based on conquering and colonization - and it does a good job of that, however, to release an expansion with a game-breaking bug is just ... laziness.

Bit of a six year necro.
As bad as the natives were in ETW, were they done any worse than the natives in the recent paradox games?

Yeah I didn't quite realize I was commenting on such an old thread but should've considering how old the game is. I bought TWE within a year of its release and it took me this long to get around to finishing the main campaign and all the expansion. It's actually shocking that they never fixed this bug, nor has anyone come up with a workaround.

Not entirely sure which paradox games you're referring to?
