I responded to another post the other day for a similar question and I gave a pretty comprehensive answer there. I linked you to the conversation because you may be interested in the response I am waiting for myself, but also I've listed 3 mods with videos about them. I am new to the game and modding in general, but have been learning about it the past few months here and there. I can share as much knowledge as I know thus far. Moddb.com is your friend... https://www.moddb.com/games/empire-total-war will have all the major E:TW mods being used currently. Some are old and have not been updated in over a decade, whereas others are still active with discords and regular updates and things for you to get more involved. I hope these things help. Feel free to private message me or whatever, though I don't know if you can through here lol...
I am currently playing around with Darthmod and All Factions Revenge mod. They kind of work together, but not exactly... I am happy with the graphics updates and the over all look of Darthmod, but there are some things that bother me, the music being 1 example... I love Star Wars, don't get me wrong, but I don't want Star Wars music in my Empire: Total War game lol... but that is just the title screen song and the actual game music is different, but I haven't been too impressed with the music changes tbh...
What I want more of is more factions! The All Factions Revenge mod is cool because it unlocks Hungary and Scotland as playable factions in land and sea battles, but I haven't been able to figure out how to be able to play as either of them in a grand campaign as a starting independent nation with objectives and all that...
So my over all goal is to unlock literally every faction in the game as a playable faction in Grand Campaign mode. I also would like more factions custom added, as well as new units for different nations, such as unique elite troops... I have found this in the All Factions Revenge mod, but again I cannot figure out how to play these factions in Grand Campaign. I do not know if the Scottish and Hungarian units are available if I play as Britain or Austria is the thing. I haven't tested that out yet actually and I should today.
I downloaded the Empire Total War II mod last night and have not installed it yet... There are videos on YouTube for how to install most every major/popular mod, but many of the videos aren't comprehensive enough and they assume that I know about PC's and modding, which I do not lol... I am not tech savvy. I read books and study all sorts of things, but tbh I just find programming and all that to be entirely boring. Just as I would much prefer to study physics and mathematics all day, every day, but find engineering to be utterly boring. Everyone's mind is different after all... Anyways, the basics to the answer for your question are found in the first link I shared.
For Darthmod and Pirates Uber Alles, installation involves downloading the mod files and then opening your Empire Total War folder in the directory and literally just click, drag, place, and then click "yes replace files with the same name" or whatever if it asks... Then, some mods (the best ones) will have a mod menu you open to select your personal preferences and the mods you want to upload and use for play.
Some of these mod menus will be more complicated than others. Darthmod's menu is easy and straightforward to use. The settings are very few and you can just easily select them, click start on the mod menu and leaving the mod menu open just start up the Empire Total War game and voila, you're playing a modded game...
Menu's like the one for the Pirates Uber Alles mod are a bit overwhelming for new players. I had installed Pirates Uber Alles, but then couldn't understand it tbh... But now, after playing the game hardcore for the past week I think I understand way more how to use the menu no.
So today, I will probably be deleting Darthmod and the 2 different "All factions" mods I've got installed now, so that I can install Empire Total War 2 mod... If I cannot figure out the Empire Total War 2 mod (again...) then I will just go back to Pirates Uber Alles I think... I cannot remember now how many factions PUA added to their mod... I don't know how many Empire: Total War 2 added but I think it said there are like 48 playable factions?
This is a long message, and I tend to rant/ramble. I apologize if I am annoying, I am not good at talking to people and I assure you that my intentions were good.
