ETW won't start whatsoever
So I decided to reinstall and play ETW after about a few months of having it uninstalled. It worked fine when I had it installed before, but now it won't start at all. I don't even get the message saying that Steam is launching the game. My icon in the lower right corner turns green for a second then goes back to blue. Other games in my library work just fine. I've uninstalling then reinstalling ETW multiple times, veryfied game cache, everything. And I still can't get it to stat.

Could mod that I put in before and thought I deleted in the past have an issue in this? Should I go about trying to reset game files? Some help would be appreciated

most Mods use a user_script to enable them, this can normally be found (assuming your game is installed on your C drive) in this folder
C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts
simply located and delete the user_script then try launching your game

I am having the exact same issue...game has worked fine w/ Darthmod, but crashed yesterday. Had to restart the computer, and now it wont work at all. Have reinstalled from disc and uploaded from Steam, and it still doesnt work. I deleted the user_script as outlined above, and still doesnt work...is there anything else I can do?

using Darthmod you actually need a user_script to enable the Mod.

Assuming you are useing the latest version (vers 8, with patch 8.01 installed your are using DME) then please look here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?402714-INFORMATION-READ-ALL-OF-THIS-FIRST-SUPPORT-INFORMATION&p=8406713&viewfull=1#post8406713
Ifd you scroll down and click on the Launcher Overview you should see the launcher screen. You will need to check if you have a user_script, and reset them the simplest method should be
exit the launcher, you should have the options DME Ready, Vanilla Ready, click DME Ready and exit.
Reboot your computer and re-launch the game.

if ETW don't work attemp this process:
come out from Steam and turn off Steam, save the "eventuality" contents of ETW Folder so empty the ETW folder (don't eliminated the folder!) therefore back in Steam again and download ETW - let me know if this process is allright for you

The process in the first response corrected my issue sorry for the slow response. I had to go into my control room and enable me to see the folder however

Sorry, I didnt mean to confuse the issue...Originally, the game would not launch from steam at all (like the OP described). I had been using dartmod so I thought that might be relevent...I reinstalled the game and I re-installed Darthmod, now the game will launch from steam and darthmod will run, (allows you to get to the main menu/ options screen) but crashes to desktop as soon as the game actually tries to start...I'm now having a "new" issue from the OP...sorry to confuse everyone. I will check Hammer's solution and let you know. Thanks everyone.
