Now game is laggy/choppy throughout

Hey,

I installed ETW about 3 weeks ago. It worked perfectly for about the first two weeks, but now all of a sudden the game is extremely laggy and choppy from start to finish (from the game load & theatricals, all the way to the campaign map and battles).

Not sure what the issue is all of a sudden but it is impossible to play now. I recently updated my windows to 8.1 - so not sure if that would have anything to do with it?

Definately not my computer's capebilities, as it was working fine!

Anyone know what the issue could be?

Hey, I had the same issue, and to fix it, I went to this file:
C:\Users\(Your User Name Here)\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts

Then, I opened it with notepad, and I edited the multithreading option from "true" to "false".

Now, my game runs without any lag or stutter worth mentioning (I have two 7850s on an fx 8350 with 8GB of RAM for crying out loud!).

Might want to give Linux a try -- my FX-8120 and Radeon HD 7950 gets much better performance in Linux with this game than Windows.
