Recruiting Generals

There was a post about a month back were the author was complaining about not being able to recruit experienced generals or something along those line. Well I have found a good trick for getting good Generals: First select an experienced unit (the more experienced the better) then promote. The first time it will produce a dud but dismiss him and try again and it will work. Depending on the unit (cavalry, line infantry, lite infantry, etc.) the general will have different traits.

Ah cool! Thanks Steve I never noticed that before, usually when I need to make a new army I click on any random unit and click recruit general. I'll remember to choose the most experienced in future!

I read in a post some wheres that generals recruited in cities by recruiting generals guard units will be more experience and will have the name a real life person from the period. Even general washington is a possiblity
