Road to Independence drops to Menu after capturing 15th Region in Chapter 3
I cannot find anything about this issue here, so I am starting a new thread.

When I capture a 15th region, while holding the eight required ones, I get that independence video, then a box about independence. After the closing of which I get another box "Campaign Won", which sais that I need to hold the provinces for a time. While this box is displayed the game hangs for a bit and then drops me back to the main menu.

I cannot continue the campaign after this point and Amrerica is not unlocked in the 'Grand Campaign' screen either.

Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a fix or workaround?

I am playing on Linux. I captured the 15 province in 1797, is this maybe too late to continue to the grand campaign?

First, once the Campaign is won, that campaign is fairly well over.

The US does not unlock in the Grand Campaign at all.

If you would like to play various factions and time frames, search for and install Empire Total Factions. It makes no changes to your Empire and you simply use that launcher to decide what you wish to play and if you want vanilla you simply load from the steam menu or your desktop shortcut for Empire.

Thanks for your reply.

I read in other threads here, that the fourth chapter of the Road to Independence campaign would be like the Grand Campaign for the US. But there seems to be no fourth chapter for me. Do I need to finish by 1783 to unlock the fourth chapter?

Not sure if Empire Total Factions will work for me on Linux.

Your game (e.g. if you kept a save of it) will say the victory goals (including any time factors) for chapter 3.

If you DID meet the victory goals and it didn't work, then I suggest you try Steam Support.

I also suggest you search the official technical support forum for Empire Total War, and if you don't find your answer there, then I suggest you start a new thread there:

I did keep a save of this game (the 'continue campaign' button brought me back to the last round). The victory condition were to conquer 15 provinces including these eight special ones. I did fulfill these. The last message I saw for about ten seconds before the game went to the main manu said, I must hold the regions for 'the alloted time' (not specifying how long that is, so I thought until 1825).

Thanks for the link. There is a thread about this problem:

The 'fourth' episode (the one that should bahave like a grand campaign) is unlocked and accessible through the campaign menu.

So, maybe the 'alloted time' was zero then?

Thank you for your help.

Sweet! Now you can play as the USA in the main campaign, through playing Episode 4! :D (Yep, you start later than everyone else - those Yankee slowpokes!)
