Empire: Total War bad Linux performance.

Hey guys,

I am not sure if this is a known and unavoidable issue; but I have recently installed Empire Total War on Linux, after having played it before on Windows 7. The difference in performance is really bad between Windows and Linux.

In Windows, I get average 50 FPS and dips to 32 FPS in large battles.
In Linux, I get average 28 FPS and dips to 6 FPS in large battles.

My Hardware:
CPU: Intel Core I7 920 2.67 GHz
GPU: EVGA GTX 680 4GB FTW Edition
RAM: 6 GB of DDR3 Triple Channel 1066
DRV: Intel 128 GB SSD
RES: 1600x900

All settings ultra. Even lowering to medium there is only a slight increase in FPS... I have tried disabling Anti-Aliasing, SSAO, etc; but nothing seems to work in terms of satisfying performance. On Windows the game runs really smooth, but on my Linux side I don't get the same performance. Note that my Linux Nvidia package is the latest..

I have tried the __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS launch parameter, but that did not really improve anything. If anyone knows what I need to do to make this game run solid; please let me know.

Sorry to hear that.... I suggest you try Steam Support (click "Help" in the top lefthand area of this Steam page, and then when the menu opens, click on "Steam Support").

I also suggest you search the official technical support forum for Empire Total War, and if you don't find your answer there, then I suggest you start a new thread there:
