My second favorite is the best unit in the game, the Polish Winged Hussar. For those unaware, the Winged Hussar is actually heavy cavalry and is one of only two heavy lancer units in the game. It has a crazy charge bonus and still has the high morale and defense stats, unlike regular lancer units. These guys are an absolute game changer and can be used in ways no other cavalry unit can.
Number 3 is French Guard Artillery, particularly the horse version. Available as 24 lbs. foot and 18 lbs. horse artillery versions. They have better accuracy and reload skill than standard artillery. They also have better morale and melee stats than regular artillery.
Favorite early game unit(s) are the two Spanish Irregulars, Guerillas and 'Corso Terrestre' Guerillas. These units bring a different element to warfare in Europe. Pandours and Ottoman Azzars don't come close to being as good as these Spanish Irregulars. The Ottomans have access to a couple Irregular units in the Balkans with good stats but they lack the "Remain hidden whilst walking" trait.
Other units worth a special mention: Death's Head Hussars, Rogers Rangers, Grenzers, Libyan Kuloglu, Scots, Armenian Archers .... also Fraser's Rangers because they are from my home territory.
Worst/pointless units:
- Conscripts: The militia unit only available to European republics. They have so little ammunition, it always runs out fast. The only way I could see these units not being a complete waste of time would be in fort defense as they have decent melee skill.
- Sepoys: The low-end Line Infantry in India. They are slightly better than African Native Infantry but cost 40g more per turn. Company/VOC Line Infantry are a much better unit and cost only 20g more per turn. Sepoys don't get access rank firing either.
- Palestinian Auxiliaries: This one is kinda sad because it looks really cool and they give it an impressive description. In the end though, it's a militia unit with unusually high morale that costs way too much and doesn't use bayonets. As it is, militia is pretty pointless beyond the early game anyway. They high morale trait does not make these units worth the added cost.
To fix:
- Conscripts: Give them a decent amount of ammo
- Sepoys: Give them rank firing and probably cut the cost a little
- Palestinian Auxiliaries: Cut the cost a lot and give them better accuracy to make them worth recruiting
First i played to get rid of him, but it turns out he is a beast in combat and refuse to die of anything but old age. Now Ottomans run for their lives when his name gets mentioned

How do you fix these in game? Can you give troops extra ammo?????
The best, grenadiers. I can't collapse a line faster with anything else.

What I meant is that is how I would fix those units :)
Better than the Polish Guard Grenadiers?
NGL, I have never used Poland. I like Grenadiers in general, regardless of faction.
Best unit: Light infantry. Whether you're keeping them in reserve, using their spikes to block cavalry, or kneeling them in front of your main gun line to boost your firing output, they always serve a purpose.
Worst unit: Grenadiers. Yes, their bombs can wipe out a whole unit in a few seconds. But it takes a lot of micro and once they're in melee, they are toast. No matter how good you use them, there's something else that can do the job better and cheaper.
Top 5 in no particular order:
Polish Guard Grenadiers
Black Watch
Roger's Rangers
Death's Head Hussars
Windbüchse Jaegers
Also, they aren't impressive, but I always liked the native auxiliaries. They look kinda unique. I also like the frontiersmen Spain gets. The Company infantry are nice too... I like those hats.
Last Prussia game I played I ended up with 3 Death's Head Hussar units, even though there is a limit of 1. I was so happy lol.
I already had a Death's Head unit trained when I did a revolution to become a republic. The rebel army had a Death's Head unit in it giving me two of them. Later I did a counter-revolution to become a Constitutional Monarchy and, again, there was a Death's Head unit in the rebel army.
I've had the same thing happen with other factions and limited units.
2 Light dragoon
3 Light dragoon
Clever. I need to try this.
Just make sure to train the maximum number of elite units (that you like) before a revolution and hope for the best :)
My current game as UP I ended up with an extra Scots unit. Another Prussia game I got an extra 2nd Hussar and Deaths Head Hussar. As France I got an extra Guard Artillery.
