to be clear.
to get "strategic genius".. you need to start and win a game on "VERY HARD" campaign and ANY difficulty you want for battle difficulty. i would highly recommend, setting the battle difficulty to something very easy... ie: campaign=very hard - battle difficulty=easy.
i would hate to see you complete a campaign thinking "strategic genius" will trigger.. if you have your campaign set to "hard". it will not.
all the best
most likely because you didn't actually finish it. you may have "won" the game.. and experienced the fire works display. but you will still need to complete the game to 1799/1750 (long/short campaign).. even if you completed the campaign requirements, or game conditions much earlier on. it's deceptive. but winning the game by finishing the campaign win conditions and FINISHING the game to 1799/1750.. is what will need to be done.. one turn after 1799/1750, should trigger the achievement. (at least it did for me). get to the end year of 1799 (long campaign) or 1750 (short campaign). easy enough.. just cycle through the years, you already completed the win conditions.
all the best.
