Darthmod / vanilla crash on load/start campaign, Windows 10
I had downloaded the latest version of the Darthmod a few days ago and saved a campaign with Prussia after 3 turns; everything was fine.

I reset my computer for a Windows 10 bug (frozen taskbar) and Empire stopped working entirely. I uninstalled the Darthmod, uninstalled/reinstalled Empire, and even deleted the files inside C:/Users/[your username]/AppData/Roaming/The Creative Assembly/Empire/scripts/ ; that solution was the "working one" and it did not work for me. The extent I went was searching all Total War files and deleting them (including my Rome 2 files).

That fix on deleting the user scripts is the one that always seems to work with everyone. I don't know if it's Windows 10 or Empire, but I cannot even get a new campaign to run on a fresh install with all files the search tags as "total war," "creative assembly," "empire," or the like deleted. I'm not sure if there's anything else I can delete.

I had no other mods with Darthmod and only 1 Prussia save game using it. I used the Darthmod launcher to run the game and with Steam running like it says. I have restored Rome 2 with all it's mods and it works fine. One other detail; I changed graphics settings to Medium after restarting my computer for that Windows 10 bug. Of course a fresh install of both Darthmod and Empire should make this not matter.

This did not work. The game still crashes on the first loading screen after I try to make a new campaign.

Yes. After doing exactly what your link said I reinstalled and launched it, changing none of the default settings and didn't reinstall Darthmod. I started a new campaign with Britian, and on the first loading screen it crashed.

In steam right click properties on ETW, local files, verify integrity of game cache - then try again.

Do you have an account on TWCenter http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?1126-DarthMod-Empire

Verifying the cache was one of the first things I did. All files were accounted for on vanilla reinstall and with Darthmod installed.

I'll have to make an account there. Hopefully the mods are still active, because several other forums could not figure this out. Someone said my game key could've been locked for modding a game without true mod support.

I fixed my problem. I system restored to a point before I downloaded the Darthmod installer. Unfortunatly, my Steam client is freaking out right now and I have to reinstall a few games that couldn't handle it, but Empire works now. :steamhappy:

I know this post is long dead but, just in case you still needed help.
I had this issue when i had downloaded and installed only the patch and not the actual mod. Make sure to download and install darthmod part 1 & 2 and then install the patch on top of that
