- Around Istanbul, the Ottomans in the mid and late game are attempting to move numerous small stacks between Anatolia and Rumelia - but the path-finding can't unravel how to move the units in and out of Istanbul as necessary. Declaring war on the Ottomans and blocking the Bosporus blocks this path and relieves the hang-up.
- As part of treating successfully for peace, stacks in now forbidden territory are teleported (Thank you Druid Rambo - I mean Tactically Withdrawn) to friendly territory. On occasion, stacks are thus placed where they cannot complete pre-assigned movement, again causing a game hang-up during the AI move for that faction. If the units causing this are only blocked by the Player faction's territory, this can be relieved by granting Military Access (5 turns is sufficient) to the relevant AI faction.
Good luck! It's claimed that this can also happen at the Strait of Gibraltar; however the path-finding here is much easier as it's possible to go around Tangier on both sides. I've never seen it happen at this end of the Mediterranean myself. As at Istanbul, one could relieve this by DOW-ing the problem faction and blocking the Strait of Gibraltar with a naval stack.
