only in early techs i guess?
Cant confirm. I just had a regiment of line infantry fire a full volley point blank (like, the first guys already were at the muzzles...) into a charging regiment of pikemen, instantly killing more than half of them and all but routing the unit.
I guess you just shouldnt exchange volleys at max range for results.
Siege defense battles the AI sits on it's thumb and never does anything - one match they DID send their artillery piece humans on a charge for my firing line... I am not using the 40 unit mod they describe as the culprit of this either, have never modded empire total war, and am playing on a fresh install after following all instructions.
Unit hiring has dozens of extraneous entries. I can often hire specialized troops from areas completely outside my city with stats that seem no different than the generic counterparts but are typically limited to 4 hirable units. I get the desire for more options but the net result is that in some provinces I can't actually hire the right most units because it's full of so much crap that when I get to the rightmost pixel in the hire units screen it simply doesn't select the last unit. More annoying than not.
Some of these units have very strange naming conventions. Some are all lowercase. Some seem like internal names. There is no standardized convention though, that's for sure.
I have probably six different cavalry where-ever I can recruit cavalry. This is a game of guns, cannons, mortars, normally you have one or two actual cavalry units in a faction. Having so many seems so very dumb because I know i'll never use them and as I tech up they'll just add to unit bloat so I have to browse through all the hirable choices in a UI that cannot be modified to properly support this kind of flavor.
As Spain, I had Denmark trade me Norway for a colony with minimal investment - a bewildering action that increased my income by 1500++.
On turn one, half the world declares war on the other half. I am at war with probably half of Europe by turn 50 but have only been attacked a couple of times.
Pirates asked for a peace agreement with me - something that doesn't make any sense at all. My traders are quite safely farming the trade areas now while doomstacks of pirates patrol.
I've had inexplicable wardecs on me from factions that should have no interest at all with being at war with me. I've had alliance requests from Russia where they want to drag me into wars and are asking for 2+ technologies to boot - why would I ever do that? what's in it for me?
I've had settings reset even though I set them to never change. I've had armies of pirates and slaves sent from Britain to attempt and conquer my colonies (likely a problem of the glut of useless units added to the game for "flavor.")
I had a unit in the middle of brazil (non-playable area) along with every other faction in the game that had an upkeep cost.
Bonus points: they removed "religion" entirely and replaced it with culture. A single plantation would turn your colonies into 100% slave culture very quickly before they patched it.
I've had invisible missionary units on the map which are obviously useless given the last point.
They have removed general chat from their forums due to "not having people to moderate." I've never seen a community that couldn't find volunteer moderators amongst the very same population that wants to have discussions.
I get they are trying to do what they can with the Empire engine. I can only wonder if this might have been a better mod for some other game without so many major bugs.
If you want to play Empire again, i'd play vanilla and see how it feels. When you get bored maybe try this... but there are serious limitations to modding empire total war.
The replenishment problem is a known issue. Requires editing a file as Karusell Veteran noted in his post, if you haven't done so.
