everything is better about empire 2 exept the fact that all rows fire, which makes the game incrediblely more difficult as the ai normally doesnt drag out rows as far as possible, which gives you the advantadge, something that is taken away in empire 2.

Neither.

Why? Start with there is no legal way to open Empire files to modify them with no assembly kit and no place to upload/subscribe to them legally with no workshop, as October and the end of the year approach more and more people are finding outrageous not even connected problems from having improperly secured files even just sitting on their hard drives connected., and it is now only a matter of time until continuing to add that which is not made legally to add will freeze out that Windows account altogether.

Empire 2 mod is awesome. I started with Darthmod, but moved to ETWII as soon as I saw the difference. ETWII has better audio and smoke visuals, as well as better AI imo. I rarely lost land battles on normal Empire and Darthmod, but I've had a tough time with some of the battles in ETWII. The cohesion factor is new and you'll learn to love it and hate it. The higher the difficulty you play on, the more impactful cohesion becomes and keeping proper battle lines with flanks secured is the best way to keep your army in the fight. Otherwise, they just route. The gunfire audio from volleys is AMAZING. It makes the immersion better and if you have a good audio setup, you can feel it in your chest when a full line fires. I would say check it out lol

Darthmod
Pros
Easy to install and use
Plenty of options, settings, customization to your play style. Relatively compatible with small mods.
Not many issues getting it to work

Cons
Outdated AF
Nowhere near the level of modification of some overhauls
Combat is still too arcadey

Empire 2 TW
Pros
Very polished presentation
Increased depth of campaign mechanics
Selection of curated and compatible submods
Combat feels just right to me (but that is subjective)
Still actively developed and stable
Naval combat is fantastic, modder really put alot of time into the naval combat
Cons
Can be a ♥♥♥♥♥ to install, but there is no substitute for quality
Definitely alot more challenging
Current version is beta 4.0, does not include late era campaigns at present, but the previous version does.
CAN BE A REAL ♥♥♥♥♥ TO SET UP
Dont use the VDM submod option, its cool in concept but its really jankily implemented.

Overall, played alot of both mods, but Empire 2 made me fall in love with the game again.

You gotta get the download through their discord. They have a link on their ModDb page. Once you're in the discord, got to the #beta-downloads and find the one with the google link. There is also a patch you can download on the same page that fixes a lot of the bugs in the mod.

No problem brother! It's def my favorite Total War as well and the ETWII mod makes it much better in a lot of ways. I would also suggest the 40 units submod that comes with ETWII files. You have to edit a file to make the changes take effect, but it allows you to build armies up to 40 units instead of 20. This means you can field a single Army 10,000 strong or more if you have reinforcing Armies. Makes the battles longer, harder, and more tactics focused as the battlefied evolves. Please feel free to friend me for DM's. I'd be glad to help in anyway.

Hands down more advanced AI than Darth and Vanilla. And it goes further than just AI. There is refinement and revision in the tech tree and effects of buldings. Far more balanced and you def feel the difference in the difficulty

I recommend trying out a few and finding the right fit for you. Just be sure to ignore HazardHawk. They are only going to lie and fear monger in every single thread that mods (especially Darthmod) are brought up in.

Absolutely a fair point. Good mention on HazardHawk as well.

WinRAR. Didn't know what you meant at first haha. You are referring to how to extract it right?

Another thing is that roundshot feels very useless in empire 2 while grapeshot seems to be the only useful shot in navy battles. I literally spent 20 minutes as britain on turn 1 fighting the pirates and full volleys of roundshot didn't even kill one guy, while 3 volleys of grapeshot routed the ships instantly. Of course grapeshot should be better than roundshot but roundshot should do something! I would love if they made a version of this where it only added audio and texture improvements, but not anything else.
