Martha confederacy in America
I just want to know if anyone else ever got AI martha in america during a play through. Not like you traded a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ island with them in the americas, but they legit invaded someones land, or yours in the americas.

Not Maratha, but I had Mughal Empire invading Port Royal in one playthrough as GB lol.

lol, that is an unfortunate thing that always happens, Marathan expansion across the world... There is no solution, unless you create or find a suitable mini mod.

In my most recent playthrough as GB, Maratha also sent a small army to Port Royal onboard an impressive armada of 2nd and 3rd rates.

When I played the United States and took most of the Caribbean Islands, the Maratha invaded Cuba and thrashed me. They were a tough army. Fortunattly the United States is much closer and I was able to send an army to retake it before they could reinforce theirs.

Pretty much I always see them invade or try to invade one of the islands there. Had them try to take my provinces there in: British, French, Spanish and United Provinces games so far.

Not America, but they took over Sardinia in one of my games, were at war whith basically everyone with a navy and effectively became Barbary states 2.0 - I was playing Chapter 4 of the USA campaign and had taken over France because they didn't sell me Louisiana.

I once decided "Hey, its just a little bit of eastern russia and southern europe, how bad could it get?". Fast forward 30 turns and the Maratha ninja siege half of europe with all these hordes of melee dudes and take over everything, using their immense navies of 2nd and 3rd rates to control the sea's and invade america, where my British troops were incredibly outnumbered :(
Never underestimate the Orange Plague...

When I mentioned tough, I was not kiding. They had a small army and I finally had to send a full stack and form five lines; one behind the other. They attacked and while fighting one line the one behind fired into the melee. That was the only way to kill them. I nearly lost. Only had five well worn out units left and only beat them because they only had batteries of artillery left and I hid behind a hill to prevent any more casualties. I will never underestimate them again.

I don't know. As Prussia, they declared war on me for no reason, but didn't do crap for generations. Then, maybe 20+ turns later, they send in three full fleets of sloops and 5th Rates, and siege Konigsberg.

...

I annihilated every single last one of them.

And then we became trade partners and the world was good once more:steamhappy:

Yes, playing as GB. I had completed the mission to add the colonies to my empire, but not until after the United States had formed, starting I believe in Maine. Maratha declared war on them, destroyed them and demanded I give them new York. I refused and then they declared war on me. I should have helped the U.S. rather than assuming they would be fine and focusing on New Spain!!

Playing as the USA the Maratha Confederacy took Boston in the mid 1780's. Playing as GB the Iroquois traded Michigan for one of their regions... so I had to invade... This is on vanilla but if you use a mod like Empire Realism or pikestances orangecrush they are curbed somewhat towards a more historical behavior

Non-European factions also get no penalty for terretorial expansion, so nobody will do something against them but instead trade with them and make them even more powerful - plus, a horde of a dozen Hindu missionaries in Europe can really cause some unrest.

I always found the Mughals and Marathans chumps. Cannons and light infantry crush them. I have not seen any of them in the Americas. I have seen them take over odd places like Iceland though

not surprising. marathas once seemed unstoppable under a commander called Bajirao (41 wins 0 loss). they even made a movie about it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHOc-4D7MjY

you can see their preferred combination of light troops and heavy cavalry
