Installed mod, entire game broken. Have tried EVERYTHING
So a few days ago I installed the ACW mod for Empire. It worked fine and i played it for a few days but today I decided I want to go back to vanilla for a bit. I uninstalled ACW and removed all its files, and then I deleted my user.script to be sure. Even though the mod has been completely wiped to the best of my knowledge the game can't get past a loading screen. Any loading screen, it will boot up fine but it crashes as soon as it starts loading. I've tried literally EVERYTHING I can think of to remedy this. So far I've

Unistalled Empire and reinstalled it (didn't work)
Verified my game cache (didn't work)
Deleted my roaming data folder for empire (Didn't work)
Removed all traces of Empire total war (including Roaming data) entirely from my computer to the best of my abilities and reinstalled from scratch. (gues what didnt work)

I simply don't know what do now. ACR Looks like it broke my game permanently somehow I don't even know how thats possible.

Go to your Empire data folder, and delete this file after unistalling the ACW mod.

bg_bootpack

Its a leftover file that is not removed from the unistaller, causing vanilla ETW to crash.

Removed it and verified but still no luck. I have no problem booting up the game, it the loading screen that i crash on.

Have you tried checking the script file in appdata folder for Empire to see if their's still a script from ACW ? If their is delete that script and try running but your best bet is to uninstall empire, delete the Empire folder in your OS(C) files and delete the Empire folder in your appdata files and then reinstall and verify cache, then run the game, that will normally fix the problem giving you a clean install of the vanilla game.

Yep, that was it, still one teeny tiny sound script running in the script folder. I don't know whow I missed it as I thought I cleaned out my scripts folder. But sense its the only one I must have missed it by accident. Things be working now. Thanks for the tip.

Which sound script was it? Can you remember? I know it's a bit of a long shot but I really want to play Empire again and can't believe how this ACW mod has screwed with my game.

Ok, this method I tried worked for me Ashborges. With a clean vanilla ETW installed, reinstall the ACW mod. Then, unistall the ACW mod.

After you unistall the ACW mod, go to your data folder inside the ETW folder.

Delete this file. bg_bootpack

It is a leftover file from the ACW mod that screwed my game even after a complete unistall reinstall.
