Favorite Faction?

Hello guys/gals.

I was wondering what your favorite faction is and why? Since so many are unique and different, I figured people would like to talk about it.

You can say factions that aren't playable too. :)

Yep. I guess as a silver lining nobody can accuse me of bullshiting by choosing a really easy faction. And since I mod the game myself I've been able to soup them up as a faction a bit.

the HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE. Despite my image. I prefer to play Prussia specifically in Napoleon while in Empire i like to play as HRE/Austria

France for their variety of early and late line infantry and best uniforms, Spain for their all powerful galleons recruitable at turn 1, and United Provinces for the Blue Guard (they are too beautiful to take my eyes off) and they start the game with territory in all 3 maps.

Long ago I would have said Great Britain because I love the classic redcoat soldier, but they have absolutely nothing those other 3 and even Prussia does better.

Yes, while my favourite is Great Britain, I must agree that someone like Prussia is a valuable land ally as they are quite proficient in the art of battle.

Yes, while my favourite is Great Britain, I must agree that someone like Prussia is a valuable land ally as they are quite proficient in the art of battle.

GB just has very low unit variety. Their best looking unit, Coldstream guards, are capped to one unit, and other than the HMS victory and Brunswick dragoons, the DLC units are poor.

I strongly disagree. GB is arguably the best faction in the game second only to the US. It has a significantly better than average infantry roster, a better than average cavalry roster, and a perfectly acceptable artillery roster. Their only shortcoming as a faction is a lack of fast moving cavalry.

Cool. What puts you off Prussia in Empire?

Nothing. i have never played Prussia before in Empire i just prefer to play as them in Napoleon. I also like Britain, they are in a pretty good position in the beginning of the game and there is a high tendency for those iroquis natives to declare war on the thirteen colonies and that is a perfect excuse to annex them. he he he he he.......

In campaign GB is really short handed when it comes to unit variety. France, Prussia, Sweden, and United provinces each have a "superiour line infantry" unit (not the guard unit, and it is given some sort of faction-specific name) and they are allowed many of these. GB only gets 1 unit cap of its "superior line infantry" (Coldstream guards).

As for artillery, GB is on par average like most of the standard factions.(France and Ottoman Empire get the best artillery). The big problem with GB's unit roster is it has alot of 1-cap units. You can only get 1 coldstream guard, 1 33rd regiment, 1 Royal New York, 1 Brunswick, etc... while United Provinces, Spain, and France get multiples of their unique infantry units.

Bottom line, while GB's infantry roster looks plentiful, you only get 1 of each.

Yep, what Kumelowski said, Poland has been partitioned 5 times. 3 times in the 18th century, 1 time 19th century and another time in the 20th century which is the most infamous partition of all
