Trees block projectiles?
Do they block both cannons and bullets? I think I noticed artillery being less effective when positioned between trees. Didn't seem to affect units' block bonus when they are the one under fire though... Does anyone know for sure if trees affect projectile?

Yes, they do.

Yes, they do.
Wow, I never knew. Do they also provide you a cover from cannons and bullets fired from a long distance, making it a double edged sword?

They reduce damage taken, but only minorly.

Do they also reduce damage inflicted if your artillery or muskets fire behind the tree line?
if you are in a woodland u do have some shots blocked but not as great by far as those shooting into the woodland.

Thanks for clarifying. I still have reasons to position my troops between trees.

Artillery shells are completely blocked by trees. So position your troops in a way that they can fire out of forests but the enemy can't effectively fire back.

To clear out a forest, use ammo like Quicklime and Schrapnel shots.
Personally, when deploying for a battle I avoid placing artillery in woodlands. Often the battles are fluid resulting in changing fighting posture/positions, one of the most painful is moving artillery either into or out of woodlands, which can be excruciating slow. Perhaps the only time I'll leave artillery in woodlands is when the woodlands have a commanding field of fire down a hillside leading into a valley, if so, I'm not terribly worried about enemy artillery firing back from a lower position, if anything the enemy had better move out of range or face being blown to pieces. Honestly fluid maneuver during a battle when possible is a better than being stuck purposely in woodlands in flat or downhill terrain that can easily be circumnavigated by regiments/cav, although the AI can be pretty stupid most of the time, but not always.
