GOOD NEWS and not so good news about my tar mod troubles.
I found a workaround for it shutting my pc down. If you have this issue, take empire out of fullscreen mode.

Now the bad news, I don't know what setting screwed it up, but now the mod will only load the default campaign regardless of which I select in the launcher. This basically means I am missing out on all the bigger parts of the mod. It worked until I changed the settings, I know I should have changed them one at a time but I was excited. Any ideas?

Yu should really post all this on the mod forum pages where the developers of the mod can see this and work with you towards a solution.

Most of them are dead and abandoned, that and the moddb forum was disabled, and twcenter keeps tripping off virus failsafes on my computer.

You comment about forums being 'dead and abandoned' doesn't make sense - I told you that the modders who work on The American Revolution are active on TWC, they released a new version on July 4. I've been using TWC frequently for years and haven't had a virus problem once.

I know, I have that new version, I even worked with a dev directly and used a beta version. The forums are 90% abanonded forums, outdated forums, and according to my computer a butt ton of viruses. All I know is if a page is open too long I get the old song and dance from windows and malwarebytes.

If you were working with a modder directly, I wonder why were you asking for help here instead of contacting the modder.

As you'd probably expect, during the 10 years since Empire was released, some modders moved on to other things. But the forums aren't "abandoned", there's an active modding scene for Empire: https://www.twcenter.net/forums/content.php?433-Modding-ten-years-after-Empire-Total-War.

I'm surprised that you'd claim that the TWC forums are "abandoned", especially after I told you that a modder was currently posting on The American Revolution forum on TWC - so you knew that the forum is active, not abandoned. I'm surprised, too, by your claim about messages relating to viruses or malware. As I said, I've been on TWC frequently for years, I've not had any problems with either.

Because I don't intend to make a nuisance of myself to him. That, and I doubt I am the only person with these issues and this is the first place the average user will look. And dude, most of the forums have their last post years ago, it is ancient by internet standards, and if you want the recent stuff you have to sift through an absolute spaghetti of dead threads.

So, you knew that the modder was active on a forum, but you claimed that the forum was "dead". You knew that you could report the problem to the modder - you even worked "directly" with a modder - but you asked other players on a different forum. Of course, it's your choice.

On The American Revolution mod forum, the most recent posts are hours or days ago - not "years ago". On many ETW hosted mod forums, the most recent posts was today, a few days ago or a few days or weeks ago - not "years ago". The oldest recent post for any ETW hosted mod forum was in June 2018 - one year ago, not "years ago".

It's true that there are lots of old threads, particularly for older games, TWC has existed for a long time and the oldest TW games were released a long time ago. However, as you'd expect, new posts bump threads so we don't need to "sift through" old threads to see "recent stuff".

You're presenting a misleading picture here.

You just ignore your antivirus. There are plenty that'll consider a virus if it isnt a known company.

So ignore the antivirus
Perhaps a workshop in here in steam it will be good ..who know. I want to see more Mod from all of you.
