what Mod/submod are reccomended
I have played ETW many times in the past and have played with mods before (APETI, Darthmod) and just reinstalled. I was wondering what mods and submods I should get for the best experience.

If I had a wish list it would be for realism, lots of units and additional features.

Additional units mod is good, I can help you install it if you want.

I'd recommend getting Pack File Manager and tweaking the game to your own liking.

Get Darthmod, solves a lot of game balancing "issues". For sub mods I like to use, Napoleon Total War effects and death animation.

On the contrary, Darthmod greatly hurts balance by making cavalry all to powerful and by allowing militia to defeat guards in a head on fight.

Are there any mods in particular you'd reccomend?

Empire: Total Factions is pretty solid. But again, I'd recommend Pack File Manager which allows you to customize anything and everything just the way you want it.

How easy is it to wreck the game using that? I would love it if I can make some factions hold less space and add more smaller factions.

Maybe even make America and India all tribal.

Well editing regions and things on the campaign map itself is ESF Editor. Pack File Manager, for the most part, deals with the more technical aspects of the game. Unit stats, technology effects, etc. It is easy to break if you get too ambitious before you really know what you're doing. But if you start small and learn as you go, it's not too difficult to pick up. I personally always make backup copies of any changes I make.

Cheers, I think I will have to give it a try then.
