Total War: Empire Release Information

1.5 - October 29th 2019 macOS

• Updates the game from 32-bit to 64-bit.
  
• Uses the Metal graphics API instead of OpenGL.
  
• Fixes a number of minor issues.

Players using a version of OS X before 10.15 can access a compatible version of the game via the Beta tab in the game’s properties window. Select the ‘Mac_Retail_1.4 - macOS 10.14.6 or older only' branch for a version that is compatible with 10.9.5 up to 10.14.6.

• Fixes a bug that prevented Total War: Empire from launching on macOS 10.12 (Sierra).
  
• Improves interface of the pre-game Options window.
  
• Fixes a number of minor issues.

Hey Feral,

The app store/non-steam version of this game CTD's when you try to start the game. The MP beta client I have here on Steam is only playable in windowed mode; when you try to switch it to full screen the mouse does not work (e.g.when you click on things the game realizes your mouse is hovering over it but the clicks do not register).

Help? I'm using a 2017 15" MBP with the touch bar and OS 10.13.5

I'm afraid this game was released before the the Steam workshop was available. If we are able to do this in a future update then we will update this thread.

I keep getting this when I try and launch the game on mac. I've re-installed twice and verified the installation. Same error. When I check the game files I can see it exists at that path.

"Empire: Total War could not be run because the file “data/ui/frontend ui/loadingscreen/feral_legal.png” is missing from the installation. Please re-install and try again."

- Refresh your Steam download cache, see: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3134-TIAL-4638
- Restart your computer.
- Launch Steam.
- Verify game files in Steam, see: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
- Launch game
